Super Eagles and FC Nantes winger, Moses Simon, has saluted Nigeria’s women national football team, the Super Falcons, for their resilient showing in WAFCON 2022 semi-final defeat to Morocco’s Atlas Lionesses on Monday, Completesports.com reports.
The Super Falcons lost 5-4 to the Atlas Lionesses after the normal contest ended 1-1 inside 120 minutes at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium Rabat, Morocco.
The Super Falcons took the lead in the 62nd minute courtesy of a Yasmin Mrabet own goal and Sanaa Mssoudy netted the equaliser for Morocco in the 66th minute.
Halimatu Ayinde and Rasheedat Ajibade were red carded in the 48th and 70th minutes respectively, which meant the the Super Falcons fought gallantly in most part of the match with numerical disadvantage.

In the penalty shootout, the Randy Waldrum’s team lost one of their spot-kicks through Ifeoma Onumonu, while the Moroccans converted all their kicks.
Simon took to his Twitter handle to salute the Falcons resilience performance in the encounter.
“We didn’t see players on the pitch. We saw warriors who gave their all for the Nation’s pride. You left us all very proud . Better days ahead, cheers up girls,” Simon’s Tweet reads.
The Super Falcons have won the Women’s Africa Cup Of Nations (WAFCON) a record nine times, and Falcons have appeared at all editions of the FIFA Women’s World Cup.
