Cameroon midfielder Monique Ngock has been named the Best Player of the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) following her impressive performances at the tournament.
Malawi star Temwa Chawinga was also among the major award winners, claiming the Golden Boot after finishing as the tournament’s top scorer with five goals and two assists in the country’s historic maiden WAFCON appearance.
Chawinga finished ahead of Zambia’s Barbra Banda, Ivory Coast’s Ines Konan and Cameroon’s Marie Ngah, who also scored five goals each. However, the Malawi forward took the award courtesy of her superior assist tally.
Cameroon goalkeeper Michaely Bihina was named the tournament’s Best Goalkeeper after producing a series of outstanding displays for the Indomitable Lionesses.
The Benfica shot-stopper was particularly impressive in the quarter-final against Nigeria and the semi-final against Morocco. Against the hosts, Bihina saved a penalty late in extra time before stopping three more in the ensuing shootout to help Cameroon secure a place in the final.
