Oluwatosin Demehin has declared that the Super Falcons are fully motivated to defend their crown at the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations, Completesports.com reports.
Nigeria will be aiming to secure a record-extending 11th continental title when the tournament gets underway in Morocco next weekend.
The competition is expected to be more competitive than ever, with the number of participating teams expanded from 12 to 16, setting the stage for a fiercely contested championship.
In addition to continental glory, the tournament also serves as the qualification pathway for the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup.

Demehin Targets Another WAFCON Crown
Despite the increased level of competition, Demehin insisted the Super Falcons remain determined to uphold their long-standing dominance in African women’s football and will give everything to successfully defend their title.
“It will be tough, as more teams are getting stronger in Africa. We are motivated to succeed, but we must be consistent, compact at the rear, fluid in midfield and clinical in attack,” the Galatasaray defender told thenff.com.
Winning Title A Big Motivation
Demehin also reflected with pride on winning the WAFCON title with the Super Falcons during the 2024 tournament, describing the achievement as a defining moment in her career.
“Winning the gold medal and the team lifting the Cup in my first Women AFCON always makes me feel special. It also gives me enormous confidence when we are playing a match or playing a tournament. It showed me what is possible with hard work and team work,” Demehin added.
“That success has continued to motivate me to keep improving, to keep helping the team in every way I can, and it is my driving force to fight with the team to defend our title in Morocco.”
