Defending champions Nigeria’s Flying Eagles booked their place in the semi-finals of the WAFU B U-20 Championship with a convincing 3-0 victory over Togo’s Sparrow Hawks in Yamoussoukro on Thursday.
The Flying Eagles maintained their perfect start to the tournament, making it two wins from two matches after their opening 4-2 victory over Ghana.
The result also confirmed Togo’s elimination after they had earlier suffered a 3-1 defeat to Burkina Faso.
The first half offered little excitement, with both sides struggling to create clear-cut chances as the contest remained goalless at the break.
Nigeria, however, returned with greater purpose after the restart and broke the deadlock just one minute into the second half. In-form striker Muiz Adeleke finished calmly to put Abdu Maikaba’s side ahead.

Adeleke doubled the Flying Eagles’ advantage in the 57th minute, continuing his impressive goalscoring form.
The forward has now netted four goals in just two matches at the tournament, underlining his status as one of the standout performers in the competition.
The Flying Eagles wrapped up the victory five minutes from time when Abdullahi Agbeloye found the back of the net to cap a dominant second-half display.
The win sends Nigeria to the last four with six points from two games and guarantees their qualification with a match to spare.
The Flying Eagles will round off their Group B campaign against Burkina Faso on Sunday.
