Watford Captain, Deeney: Saka A Proper Player

Watford skipper Troy Deeney has lauded Arsenal’s starlet Bukayo Saka describing him as a proper player, Completesports.com reports.

Saka has been one of the standout performers for Arsenal despite playing as an emergency left-back, following injuries to Sead Kolasinac and Kieran Tierney.

The 18-year-old has scored three goals, made nine assists in 30 appearances in all competitions this season for the Gunners.

Deeney,31, who has become somewhat of a pantomime villain for Arsenal supporters ever since claiming the club lacked “cojones” in 2017, also opened up on his relationship with the club’s fans.

“Arsenal people hate me but it is what it is,” Deeney said in an interview with Manchester United fan channel The United Stand.

“The reason me and someone like DT get on, or me and Robbie or me and Troopz (regulars on Arsenal Fan TV) is because I’m not saying Arsenal are crap, or these players are not good enough.

“I’m literally going, ‘my opinion on it is this, this and this’ and they would go, ‘yeah, I can see that’.

“Even when Arsenal are good I’ll be like, ‘my man was sick, you know’.

“Saka at left-back, he’s a proper player.

“I’m not just going, ‘oh, you lost, haha’. Bro, Watford lose more than most,” Deeney stated.

Meanwhile, football fixtures in England have been on hold since the outbreak of the deadly coronavirus.
