Watford Chief Suggests Pereyra For Chelsea

Watford chief Filippo Giraldi says Roberto Pereyra should only leave the Hornets for a club like Chelsea – which is bad news for Torino.

There have been rumours that Pereyra will be a big target for Italian clubs again this summer, with ex-Hornets boss Walter Mazzarri, now at Torino, his biggest admirer.

The mid-table Serie A club tried to sign the 28-year-old last summer but were unable to prise him away from Vicarage Road.

Another attempt from Torino in January fell flat because Watford’s financial demands were deemed to be too ‘excessive’, according to Calciomercato at the time.

Now Chelsea have been suggested as a better destination for Pereyra – by none other than Watford’s technical director Giraldi. “I say this with sincerity – I don’t like to comment on market rumours,” he told Radio Kiss Kiss. “In football, nothing is impossible, but I see it as a highly unlikely situation, for us he is a very important player. “I think he can go to a great team, I say it with all due respect to Torino.

I see him as a potential Chelsea player. “He played at Juventus but he lacked continuity. With us he has excellent numbers, I see him in a great team. We will do everything to keep him, otherwise he will go to a big one.”
