Chelsea coach Mauricio Pochettino says that his team have themselves to blame for not being nasty and clinical enough in their 2-0 Premier League defeat to Brentford on Saturday, October 28 at Stamford Bridge.
Ethan Pinnock scored the first goal of the game in the 58th minute and Bryan Mbeumo made it 2-0 in the 96th minute.
The result condemned the Blues to a fourth defeat of the season as they remain in the lower half of the table.
They have an ardous task as they play Tottenham, Manchester City, Newcastle United, Brighton and Manchester United shortly.
Speaking in the post match conference, Pochettino rued the missed chances the Blues had.
“The analysis is clear because in the first half we should score and we didn’t score,” chelseafc.com quoted Pochettino as saying.
“When you dominate and create chances, don’t concede chances, and the opponent does cross the halfway line, you should score. If you don’t score you need to blame yourself. So we blame ourselves because we were not nasty and clinical in front of the goal. Sometimes you need some luck too and if that happens, it changes the game in the second half.

“We kept the belief even though we don’t score but in the second half we can’t concede this kind of goal. It is our mistake and that is why we lose the game. We have played Liverpool and Arsenal and the team did really well. When you see this type of game like today, or Nottingham Forest, we dominated but we can’t score goals when the block is so, so deep.
“There are many bodies inside the box and we struggle to score. But in different games, when we have played Arsenal or Liverpool the team did really well. That is why we are not worried. We need to win on Wednesday (against Blackburn Rovers) and then prepare for the game with Tottenham.”
Saturday’s home defeat leaves Chelsea in 11th position in the league table with 12 points after 10 games.
The Blues will be at home in the third game running when they will welcome Blackburn Rovers in round 16 of the Carabao Cup on Wednesday.
After the Carabao Cup fixture, Chelsea have some tough fixtures lined up next month and in early December.
They will return to league action with a trip to London rivals and league leaders Tottenham Hotspur on Monday, November 6.
The Blues will welcome Treble winners Manchester City to the Bridge on Sunday, November 12 then on Saturday, November 25 they will be guests to Newcastle United at St. James’ Park.
On Sunday, December 3, they will entertain Brighton and Hove Albion while just three days later they will visit Old Trafford to face Manchester United.
