Jose Peseiro has underlined his ambition with the Super Eagles, promising to make the team great again, reports Completesports.com.

The Portuguese was recently confirmed the new head coach of the three-time African champions.

Peseiro was picked by the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) ahead of three other coaches; Ernesto Valverde, Philip Cocu and Laurent Blanc.

The 60-year-old is expected to take charge of the Super Eagles for the first time when they take on the El Tri of Mexico in an international friendly at the AT &T Stadium, Arlington, Texas on Saturday.

The Super Eagles are also scheduled to take on Ecuador in another friendly at the Red Bull Arena, Harrison on June 2.

Peseiro’s first major assignment will be to qualify the Super Eagles for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in Cote d’Ivoire.

The former Venezuela coach stated that he is not only ready for the task ahead but is confident the Super Eagles can win the next AFCON.

”Pride! It is with great pride and joy that I am the coach of one of the greatest football nations in the world.
Commanding the Super Eagles starts with knowing how to respect history, value it and be inspired by its roots,”Peseiro wrote on his Twitter handle.

“Over 200 million Nigerians, from all states and ethnicities, want the same thing: success.

“We will work with great ambition, so that in the end we can finally call Nigeria the “four-time African champions
@ng_supereagles 🇳🇬.”

Peseiro will take charge of his first competitive game when the Super Eagles host the Leone Stars of Sierra Leone in a 2023 AFCON qualifier at the Moshood Abiola Stadium, Abuja on Thursday, June 9.

The West Africans will take on the Djurtus of Guinea-Bissau in a matchday two fixture on Monday, June 13.

This is the second time Peseiro will be managing in Africa after his stint with Egyptian giants Al Ahly in the 2015/26 season.

I wish you well Jose. My challenge with being a Nigerian is that SUCCESS is our first name and we are specialists when it comes to showing people the exit door. While I love the great zeal with which you made your first official comment, I would like to encourage that you work/walk the talk. Nigerians may never be patient with you if you don’t kick the ground running.

      MY ADVICE FOR JOSE PASEIRO
@** Work hand to hand with your Technical crews
@** Let the invitation of players base on merit
@** Don’t allow anybody FORCE/IMPOSE any players on you. Instead SCOUT for players & test them in Friendly matches
@** Invite local players that is ready to give foreign professional players a stiff competition(not the one to add to the number/surplus to requirements).
      @** Always maintain your stand
@** Don’t allow anybody to be pushing you up and down.
@** Don’t be carried away with the club performance of players ONLY but base on PRESENT FORM & POTENTIAL
@** Do not tolerate INDISCIPLINE in to your team.
#** Do not invite players in order to pacify/please somebody (like local Coach Equavoen)
@** Encourage your players to be STRONG & MORE PHYSICAL when it comes to Africa football
@** Try to take advantage of newly introduced format: FIVE-SUBSTITUTION in a match(approved by CAF & FIFA) as an opportunity to test-run other players and MORE TECHNICAL in it.
@** Emphasize more on WING PLAY pattern for Super eagle

    so help us God

  • Jose Peseiro’s statement is in tune with the yearning and aspiration of Nigeria fans. It is great to hear from him finally.

Hopefully he will help the Super Eagles to recover lost grounds and at least restore us back to our traditional positioning.

Hopefully he will find the incoming NFF more palatable to work with.

    Good luck coach.

Peseiro is trying to satisfy Nigerians and by that, I meant the fans. Certainly, he is ambitious which to me personally is in order. My only questions are one, where is he at the moment? And two, has he met with any S.E players? A foto confirmation would be appreciated by yours sincerely.

Yours sincerely, Peisero will no longer campaign from home. He flies to the US for the friendlies. I believe his ambition will not be aborted mid way.

Welcome on board Oga Paseiro. I wish you a successful journey with Super Eagles.

Mr. Paseiro, my advice to you is, don’t give a room for current NFF members to operate. Select your players based on current form not Tribes.

Super Eagles lacks creativity and good goalies.

We want to see freekick specialists and a leader in the team. All the best Oga Paseiro. Ire o. God bless Nigeria!!!

Mr. Pesseiro, your statement is really inspiring.
It is my hope that you are robust, discipline and dogged enough to resist and overcome the over bearing attitudes of nff officials, journalist and players agents.
Provide transparent, honest and strict leadership to the team and you’ll soar like Eagles.

This guy Peseiro is so optimistic because he hasn’t arrived Nigeria yet. He’ll be a born-again coach when he sees the filth, violence and orruption in this cojntry.

    • You think dis man hasn’t seen worst …u think Venezuela is better..bro chill

      • Ako AMADI 2 years ago

Venezuela is 10x better developed and cleaner than Nigeria. Their economic problems started just under a decade ago. Nigeria has had bandits, kidnappers, 419ers, ritualists, prostitutes, corrupt pastors and politicians for 50 years! Go and check World Bank indices. This coach is in for a shock when he steps out of the aircraft in Lagos.

NIGERIA ARE BLESSED WITH GREAT POTENTIAL PLAYERS. IT IS AN AVENUE AND OPPORTUNITY FOR YOU TO LAUNCH YOUR COACHING CAREER BACK INTO THE WORLD WITH GREAT SUCCESS. FROM THERE, THE WHOLE WORLD WILL NOW KNOW WHO IS BEARING “JOSE PASEIRO”

A job where 200 million people are breathing down your neck is never going to be a cake walk. This is the biggest challenge of Mr. Peseiro’s coaching career.
He has said the right words, and seems to have the right attitude. If he goes about his business the right way, he increases his chances of success.
The most important thing is player selection. With merit-based selection, his job becomes much easier.
    All the best, coach.

Full of history in this word, mark my words. This man, as I see him is here to make history just like his countryman Mourinho makes history tonight with A S Roma. Man fear NFF should please be patient with him and caution in with love and not treating him with sack. In this man, I am seeing eyes of success in him mark my words

  • Welcome to Nigeria…..

My adivce to Mr. Peseiro to make or restore Super Eagles to become a great team in Africa and World he must study how SE have won Afrcan Cups of Nations in 94 and 2013 with also how SE have quslified to the World Cups since 94 to 2018; he must put SE pattern of play in his pocket( wings attacking , counter attacks, combative defence with strong tackling and blocking by defensive midfielders and full backs), selecting sharp attackers who play with box to box to goals like Osimhen, Dessers, Onauchu, Sadiq Ummar, Moboama , Ighalo; he must select strong defensive midfielders who can perform strong tackling and sliding ball and excellent covering like Anderson Esiti, Usman Mohammed or he can select from NPFL players have these attributes.Super Eagles have been lacking defensive sensibility after 94 generation so Peseiro must make good overhaul for this fuction, with giving hard instructions to thoes midfielders to play strongly and combatively and with excellent coverage versus rival attacking midfielders and strikers; he must also make full backs like defensive midfielders; he must select a players on merit not on favouritism or corruption like ex coaches have been doing; he must prohibit NFF administrators to intervene on his technical particulars; he must make a stuible tactic for any rival team without complacency just like to make 3-5-2 if he will match or meet Ghana, Algeria, Cote deIvore, Tunisia, Egypt and so on, he must put 4-2-3-1 or 4-4-2 or 4-3-3 if the rival is midst or weak.He must attend NPFL all around Nigeria to select an excellent players for SE; he must give a recommdations for NFF on how to develop local league in order to share for developing SE; he must study Nigerian culture on football especially and African football generally like to know North Africa play an organzional tactic football , but west and middle and south and East Africa play physical football with simple orgnizational tactic; he must put a dicipline on SE team before and after the matches or final championship just as Africa Cup of Nations; he must study any profiles and files of SE players whom recalled or not recalled to SE squad in order to know potentials and forms of thoes players. If Peseiro does these things he will creat a formidable SE team and will conquer the Africa.
