Why I’m Confident South Africa Will Qualify For 2026 World Cup —Bafana Bafana Coach, Broos

Bafana Bafana coach Hugo Broos has expressed confidence that his side will qualify for the 2026 FIFA World Cup from Group C.

In Thursday’s draw in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire, Bafana Bafana was placed in Group C against Super Eagles of Nigeria, Zimbabwe, Benin, Rwanda and Lesotho.

The 1996 Africa Cup of Nations winners have not featured at the World Cup since hosting the 2010 edition.

Reacting to the draw Broos, who has been in charge of Bafana Bafana since 2021, said his players are in a much better place than they were two years ago and he strongly believes that they can qualify for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

“The away games will be very important in a group like ours, but now a little bit more because we have five difficult away games for different reasons,” he told www.safa.net.

“I think it is possible for South Africa to qualify for the 2026 FIFA World Cup first in the group. If you see the progress we have made in the last two years, you cannot compare those qualifiers (for the 2026 World Cup) with the qualifiers for the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar. We are better now, we have a better team now. So okay, I am confident.”

The race for 2026 FIFA World Cup qualification will begin in November 2023 and conclude November 2025.

The 2026 FIFA World Cup will be jointly hosted in Canada, Mexico and the United States of America.

  • Thank God SE beat this same coach 4-0 home and 0-0 home when he was in charge of Cameroun during the WCQ for Russia 2018. Hopefully, that’s one more advantage.

    • Fear performance of SE at home. CAR and GNB defeats were at home. If away teams man their defenses rigidly at their home and come out here, then we are done for. No motivated players in SE again. Can you control your players attitude to games when their places in the team are always guaranteed?

    • @Kel What kind of Players were we parading there?.. that was when Pinnick and Rohr still meant well for Nigerian Football and were trying to win us over especially after SE and NPFL stories were exposed after Keshi and Oliseh tenures now we are reverting to the same pattern of Failure that made us employ Rohr in the first place and do away with indigenouscoach.

That was mostly Europe based stars in that game we used our strongest legs in that qualifiers and you saw the result. With this new shenanigans of NFF and NPFL well it will be a different story go and save this post

Hugo Broos will bring bad luck to Bafana Bafana. He was the coach of Cameroon when the Super Eagles qualified ahead of them

A coach that receives his salary complete and on time, Vs a coach the NFF eats from his salary. And also pay him bits by bits owing many months of backlog.

A team that is uninspired because of wages and bonus issues Vs a team that doesn’t have such worries.

A team that will play all their home matches on a quality pitch Vs a team that will be to play in cassava farm pitch of Lagos and Abuja. Ignoring the better Uyo stadium.

A ball has not been kicked yet and the talking has started. Nigeria will be in danger if the NFF continues to cheat and eat the money of their coach and players

Eagles wil win all their home game except one and draw all their away game except one … Meaning dey wil gather 12 home and win one away with 4 away draw … 12pts home + 3pt away win + 4points away draw total 19pts .. . Head must roll absent in 2022 and 2026 .
    Details later,,,,,

Are u a prophet… Doom prophet. ..eagles wil win all their games .Isha Allah.

  • Mr. Hugo Broos knows exactly what he is talking about. He has lived and worked in Africa for a while now.
He is fully aware that Nigeria may have the better talented players, but that South Africa, amazingly have the better organization.
For the most part, good organization and effective leadership trumps talent.
We have cattles masquerading as human beings in leadership positions. And we wonder why an oil-producing and exporting country blessed with several other mineral resources ranks in the top half of the world’s impoverished nations.

    • you said it well than most people think eagles are still super, there are more factors affecting eagles.

  • NFF should listen for good, Abuja stadium is capital NO for Supper Eagles matches.

We have better stadiums like Uyo, Benin and Port Harcourt stadium with good football fans.

Hugo Broos you talk before qualifier matches begin; so you must put your mine fristly then your heart after that you can see how the matters walk; South Africa is organized country but lack talented players who play in top clubs in Europe like Super Eagles, SE have somthing that will take them to high position just as talented players in Europe, but lack a coach who can harness thier talent to the high football like France , Argentina; I think from up to now NFF must hire World class coach who can make new formidable team so he can qualify SE to the next World Cup.Broos I adivce you have not to decide before refree begin qualifier matches.

  •  Nice one. I like this. It will be very interesting. Come on Super eagle . Victor Osimhen, Taiwo, Lukman and CO. Did you hear that?
