Jetro Willems says he wants to leave Eintracht Frankfurt this summer while revealing Newcastle United want to sign him. Netherlands international Willems joined Frankfurt from PSV in the summer of 2017 but he has slipped down the pecking order this season, making just seven Bundesliga starts.

The 25-year-old has often been deployed in a central midfield role, different to his favoured left-back position, and he is becoming frustrated at being played in an area that he can’t influence the game like he wants to.
It is claimed the defender recently informed Dutch television show VTBL that he wants to leave the Europa League semi-finalists and reports suggest a summer exit will happen. Willems also claimed ‘there is interest’ from both Roma and Newcastle United, although neither club has confirmed whether this is true or not.
It would make sense for the Magpies to make a move as they are light in the left-back department and they could be willing to offer the £6million required to snap up the Dutchman’s services.
