Algeria captain Riyad Mahrez says the Desert Foxes are determined to enjoy a deep run at the FIFA World Cup 2026, reports Completesports.com.
Vladimir Petkovic’s side will face Switzerland in the Round of 32 in Vancouver on Friday.
Mahrez Targets Deep Run
The North Africans started their campaign with a disappointing 3-0 loss to Argentina.
They however recovered to beat Jordan 2-1 in their next game, before battling to a 3-3 draw against Austria in their last group game.

Mahrez said the former African champions are determined to make their countrymen proud.
“We want to go as far as possible not just for ourselves, but for our families and for our country,” Mahrez told FIFA.com.
Achieving Personal Record
Mahrez scored twice in Algeria’s thrilling draw with Austria.
The 35-year-old said he fulfilled his ambition by finding the net in the fiercely contested encounter.
“Even though progression was the most important thing, in the back of my mind I also had that personal goal of getting on the scoresheet,” added the former Manchester City winger.
