Tunisia have reportedly parted ways with head coach Sabri Lamouchi following the Carthage Eagles’ crushing 5-1 defeat to Sweden in their opening match of the ongoing FIFA World Cup 2026, reports Comoletesports.com.
The North Africans were outclassed by the Swedes on Sunday night, prompting the Tunisia Football Federation to make a swift managerial change.
Former head coach Mondher Kebaier is expected to take charge of the team on an interim basis for the remainder of the tournament.
Tunisia will look to bounce back when they face Japan in their next Group Stage fixture on Sunday, June 21.
Lamouchi Ends Difficult Reign
Lamouchi was appointed Tunisia head coach in January 2026, and oversaw four matches during his brief spell in charge.
The former African champions managed only one goal while conceding 11 across four matches.
The Carthage Eagles began his tenure with a goalless draw against Canada before suffering a 1-0 defeat to Austria and a heavy 5-0 loss to Belgium. The humiliating loss to Sweden ultimately proved to be the final straw.

Trabelsi led Tunisia during an unbeaten qualifiers where they didn’t concede a goal in the 10 matches only to be booted out after afcon 2025.
Why not let him reap his reward at world cup first?
If not that Morocco has built a template, sacking Regragui after the afcon 2025 final drama was also “unwise”.
Anyway, good luck Tunisia against Japan even if my wish is tongue in cheek lol.
Lol…

Eyaaa, sorry ooo.
I feel for oga Lamouchi, but I can’t fault the Tunisian federation for this decision.
When you come face to face with incompetence, you sack it.
Sack it quickly, immediately. Tunisia is showing Nigeria the way. This is the treatment NFF should also get. Total sacking across the board.
Tunisia collect wotowoto.
They were wotowotized.
Cheap, avoidable goals. His players let him down, big time. But he selected them, so the disgraceful result is his responsibility.
