Zidane Puts Some Perspective On Real Performance

Zinedine Zidane says Real Madrid’s performance during Saturday’s 2-1 victory over Eibar has to be put into perspective.

Los Blancos looked on course for a second successive defeat as they trailed 1-0 at the half-time break, but a brace from Karim Benzema after the interval helped save their blushes.

Real’s first-half performance drew particular criticism from the supporters at the Bernabeu, but Zidane feels their form has to be put into perspective given they are out of the running to win any silverware this season. “This season we will win nothing, and we already know that Zidane told reporters.

“Playing for nothing is hard.” The former France international, who returned for his second spell as Real manager last month, was also keen to point out the improvement his side showed after the break. “In the second half we changed things,” he added. “We ran more, we were together and that changed the game. “In the end, we must congratulate the players, as they battled hard and helped each other a lot.”
