The 2020 Anambra Football Kiddies Camp with former Super Falcons midfielder Maureen Mmadu kicked off on Saturday, December 19 2020, in Onitsha with about 100 girls in attendance.
The camp will be coming up twice a year. For 2021, the first edition will hold in April which will be Easter camp and will be for girls from 10-15. While that of December edition will be for girls from 15-20.
For the maiden edition taking place in Onitsha, the girls are camped at the prestigious Anglican Girls’ Secondary School, Onitsha, for a thorough grooming by Mmadu herself, with an array of other coaches and instructors who have played and coached in the game at different stages of female football.
To be part of the camp which will end tomorrow, 23 December, where 300 girls are needed, parents purchased a form for N5,000 which came with a branded set of jersey, football, a pair of booths, a training top and a kit bag, all produced and packaged in Norway.
Also, parents were required to get a medical report that their wards are in good medical condition.
In the area of security, Mmadu assured that it is a priority as she has pulled every string to have the kids relaxed while getting their skills horned.
While in camp the girls are drilled with techniques, what to do with or without the ball and also the three things that are important, when to train, when to rest, when and what to eat as a footballer. Also the tactical aspect of the game is handed to them.
Organisers of the camp stated that the aim is to raise the next generation underage players and Super Falcons for Nigeria right from the grassroot.
They are appealing for prospective sponsors to come in and partner with Mmadu, believing also that relevant bodies will know and appreciate her efforts in grassroot development of female football.Copyright © 2020 Completesports.com All rights reserved.
