Super Eagles coach, Gernot Rohr has confirmed the possibility of the team traveling to Benin via the use of a boat for the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier.
Nigeria will face the Squirrels of Benin on March 22 in a game that could decide the fate of the two teams.
In an interview with French radio station Europe1 (via Football 365), the German tactician lamented Benin’s poor road network for their decision not to travel by road to the capital, Porto Novo.
He also appealed to the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) to move their hotel closer to the Nigerian-Benin border.
“We will have the “fitness” at the hotel, which we did not have on the previous day in Benin City,” Rohr told French radio station Europe1 (via Football 365).
“We will be very close to Benin. We risk making the trip to Cotonou, where we play our match of the 5th day on March 27, by boat, because the road is not good and the crossing only lasts two hours.”

What kind of coach is this Gernot Rohr? He has failed and should leave Nigeria on the first available boat. How this man can suggest that the Super Eagles should travel to Benin by boat is totally beyond me. This coach has never achieved anything meaningful with Nigeria. Common Africa Cup of Nations trophy this man can’t win. He only managed to qualify for the semi finals because a lot of the South African players had stomach ache when they were playing Nigeria. In the quarter finals, the Cameroon goalkeeper had toothache so he was in pain. By the time Rohr face Belmadi, his luck had run out. This man should leave Nigeria now. He does not have any coaching capability. I hate him. I want everyone to join me in writing an online petition to the NFF to get rid of this Belmadi’s boy.
