Youth and Sports Development Minister Sunday Dare has congratulated Nigeria’s senior women basketball team, D’Tigress for qualifying for the final of the 2021 Afrobasket women championship in Cameroon.
D’Tigress defeated their Senegalese opponents 73-63 in Friday night’s semifinals to book a place in their third consecutive finals.

The Youth and Sports Minister commended the team for their superlative performance in the tournament and praised them for doing the nation proud.
The Minister urged the team to crown what has been a remarkable tournament with victory in the final so that their status as the ‘Queens of the Court’ on the African continent can be confirmed.
The defending champions will face Mali in the final after the Malians defeated the hosts Cameroon 52-51 in the other semi final game.

They have an all foreign-based/foreign born team sir. They dont have any “local content” and are seriously violating your policy sir.
They have selected the BEST Nigerian Female basketballers with disregard for who they are and where they play….nothing like home-based/local content/domestic league quota system players.
Infact they’ve been violating it for a few years now even though it has resulted in back to back Afrobasket wins for them and almost resulting in a 3rd win in a row now.
Mr minister sir. I hope you will take necessary actions; sanction the team, its coach and the basketball federation and also delete the trophies won by this team with these foreign based stars for the list of honours of you administration sir…..since they are tainted victories with players who are not original ogbonge Nigerians.
