Recall the Ladan Bosso-led side defeated Black Satellites of Ghana 2-0 in their group opener on Sunday.

Ibrahim Muhammad and Ibrahim Yahaya were the scorers for the Nigerian side against Burkina Faso.

In Wednesday’s game, which was played inside Stade Seyni Kountche, Niamey, the Flying Eagles took the lead on 24 minutes through Muhammad whose attempted cross from the right sailed into the top corner.

Burkina Faso fought back to level things up but the Flying Eagles retook the lead thanks to Yahaya who converted a 69th minute penalty.

Once again Burkina Faso equalized to make it 2-2 but the Nigerians held on to secure passage into the last four.

The two teams that qualify for the final of the WAFU Zone B tournament, will secure the two available tickets for the 2023 U-20 Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt.

  • The semi final is where Bosso starts to earn his wages. When pressed in the post match press conference how he would approach the knock out stages, Bosso said: “that is not something I intend to disclose in public.”

At least he has gone better this time around compared with the last tournament.

Bosso has clearly learnt a thing or two.

Well done to Burkina Faso for providing a worthy adversary to Bosso’s Flying Eagles. I will be rooting for them to help dump Ghana out: it’s personal!

A big congratulations to Bosso and his Flying Eagles for surmounting this group stage milestone.

Ghana has crashed out of the tournament. They lost to Burkina Faso this evening. I wish them better luck next time. No hard feelings. I will support Ghana at this year world cup, no doubt. I hope they make meaningful impact this time around.

    • Thank you @Deo. You succinctly echoed my thoughts.

  • Well done guys.

Use the outcome of this game to do all the necessary corrections and also use this time to study the likely opponents in this competition.

I’m already happy with you guys for helping me beat those noisy ghanaians.

    God bless Nigeria.

    • I wish Nigeria loses the semi final game and fails to qualify…it’s personal! We hate you back if you hate Ghana

      • Group stage champions. Afcon revisited. Nigeria will be knocked out in the semis and fail to qualify. 200m waste of space..lol

      • @Yaw, nobody hate ghana.

The issue is that when it come to football Nigeria is your senior and you guys don’t have respect. Hence, the reason for the flogging you just received from our boys.

From my VAR, Burkina Faso will beat ghana this weekend.

        God bless Nigeria.

        • Thank you @Godsate. God bless. I don’t know where 20 million dey rub shoulders with 210 million plus. Where’s the comparison? Are we mates? Cos we play football together. Bigger in every ramifications. It’s just like Vietnam ranting against China or Cuba running its mouth against the US. Junior brother don forget his place in the meeting.

I saw abit of the game and I will say Burkina Faso were very fortunate to get a draw.. Their first penalty looks soft but they did so well so contain the dangerous Nigerians boys..

I don’t know the names of our players, but some of them are really good footballer, very skillful too.. The guy with the number 9 should be the top striker and I wasn’t impressed seeing him being substituted when he should be the danger man.. Hope they qualify for the main tournament

Rather we were the ones lucky in the second half because Burkina Faso took control of proceedings, they gave us zero space they covered every grass and pressed us hard.
It was a well deserved draw, apparently,a game of two Half’s,we were better in the first but a tactical change in the second half gave it to the Burkinbabe’s.
A lesson to learn by our technical crew to find solutions to high pressing because we were totally outclassed in the second period to the extent we resorted to kicking balls out aimlessly as we hadn’t space to spring passes together as we did smoothly in the first period.
However, other teams must have noted this and will use it against us possibly in the semi final,Bosso and his crew needs to sort out ways to function when they come up against teams with this formation in our next games.

      • Absolutely Greenturf. Burkina Faso came out like a house on fire in the second half thus they thoroughly deserved their goals. Bosso’s boys also deserve praise in how they fought to repel and restrict the Burkinabes to to leave the match with a draw.

Yes the Burkina boys came out like fire in the second half, but they didn’t have much clear chances or Didn’t create much from it. They did so well I must admit, and I really fear for Ghana , how would Ghana beat this stubborn Burkina boys.. what I loved in our play was some few boys I saw ( sadly I don’t know their names or their jersey number) but they were very skillful and Know how to give good passes.. if that match had VAR Burkina Faso would have gotten one or two red cards plus their penalty was soft

  • @Ololo, hope they qualify amd also hope they will not be replaced at the last minute for u20 afcon by man-no-man. the oga sirs and agens players
