2022 World Cup: Fullkrug’s Late Goal Earns Germany Vital Draw Against Spain

Niclas Fullkrug came on from the bench to score a vital goal that secure a point for Germany in their 1-1 draw against Spain in Sunday’s 2022 World Cup game..

The game which started like a house on fire saw both teams attacking each other in full force.

Spain could have taken the lead in the 8th minute but Germany goalkeeper, Manuel Neuer pulled out a brilliant save to prevent Dani Olmo from scoring.

They also had another goal scoring opportunity in the 22nd minutes when Jordi Alba tried to score from outside the penalty box. Unfortunately his effort went outside the frame of the goal post.

However, despite the Spanish team controlling possession, Germany netted the opening goal through Anthony Rudiger in the 40th minute only for the Video Assistant Referee (VAR) to cancelled the goal for offside.

The deadlock was finally broken in the 63rd minute through substitute, Alvaro Morata to the delight of the Spanish supporters.

While the game was looking like it was heading towards defeat for Germany, another substitute, Niclas Fullkrug leveled parity for the German machine in the 83rd minute.

All efforts for both teams to win the game proved abortive as they settle for a draw.

The result means Spain top the group E on four points while Germany sit bottom on one point.
