Golden Eaglets goalkeeper Richard Odoh has attributed the team’s ouster from the U-17 AFCON in the hands of Burkina Faso to mistakes.
In Thursday’s quarter-finals the Eaglets lost 2-1 to Burkina Faso to exit this year’s edition.
Abukabar Abdullahi reduced the deficit on 68 minutes after Burkina Faso raced to a 2-0 lead.
But it was not enough to as the Burkinabes held on to progress into the semi-finals where they will face Senegal.
Speaking after the disappointment of crashing out of the competition, Odoh explained that the Eaglets did everything possible to get back into the game but paid dearly for their first half errors.
“We did a lot of mistakes in the first half but we tried to comeback stronger in the second half but the chance didn’t come,” he said on Brila FM.

“God knows the best for each of us right here and believe we will do our best in the next level where we are going.”
The defeat to Burkina Faso means the Eaglets will not be at this year’s FIFA U-17 World Cup.
Burkina Faso, Senegal, Mali and Morocco will now represent Africa at the World Cup.

Instead of banding together to stamp out corruption una go dey hail dem then get broken heart later na wa ooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I tender my apologies for supporting the team.
I so trust the team
The team really break my heart.
I have been sad since yesterday.
Though, it pain us as Eagles fans. But na you dey do yourselves.
If you avoid errors and qualify for world cup it’s for your good and now that you have messed everything up it’s your cup of tea.
Fools
I so have much believe in this team and they just messed everything up as if it’s not a big deal.
I too thought they were our best national team but when I watched their game against Morocco, I knew they won’t go far at all. Clueless attack, nonexistent creative midfielders and inept defences were the bane of their failure. Inefficient short passes were only things that make them dominant against other team. I am perturbed, what happened to the team that represented us in WAFU ZONE B, I am not sure it is the same team. Ugbade really messed us up in this one, seeing the team making the same tactical errors in all the four matches without creative initiatives from the bench. This put a laudable question marks on Ugbade’s coaching tactics
Ugbade na person? An average coach corrects errors whenever he sees them. Selection na problem. He carry inept and nonchalant players go disgrace us. God go punish them, I they vex
Please all you sad forum members abeg go and apply for the position when NFF makes it open and let see what you would do differently. This is a game of luck, what did Burkina Faso do that made them better than our team. If chances were not created it’s a different thing, we have created chances from game one to the quarter finals, but we didn’t execute them. Which if they had qualified for the world cup would have being corrected. Of course there would be lapses which can be corrected later. What of the hand ball that was given as a penalty, who do we fault for that. Sometimes lets just be honest with ourselves
Dropping the entire midfield of the team that played due at Wafu B depleted the engine room and affected the overall performance of the team. Still the boys played their hearts out and the coach was not supposed to say he was afraid of Moroccan team as that affected the confidence level of the team. Better luck next time
which country you dey self? because every person for this earth no say for Naija man no fit get anything on merit, everything na corruption way. Only criminals dey get appointment mostly since this APC government enter.
This young goalkeeper is good. I wish him all the best in his future career.
