Nigeria have progressed into the final round of the 2023 U-23 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers after defeating Tanzania 2-0 in the second leg on Saturday.
The reverse fixture, which was played inside the Lekan Salami stadium, saw the Nigeria advance 3-1 on aggregate.
Recall, the Salisu Yusuf-led side held Tanzania to a 1-1 draw in the first leg in Dar es Salaam last Saturday.
After a goalless first half, Nigeria eventually broke the deadlock, thanks to goals from Ogunniyi Omojesu and Success Makanjuola.

Omojesu opened the scoring in the 61st minute from a well taken free-kick which beat the Tanzanian wall.
The scorer was then brought down Inside the penalty area with the referee pointing to the spot.
Makanjuola then stepped up to convert and put the U-23 Eagles 2-0 up on 67 minutes.
The U-23 AFCON, which will hold in Morocco, will serve as qualifiers for the 2024 Olympics in Paris.

GO AND PLAY AGAINST MALI OR IVORY COAST UNDER 23 TEAM
Stupid comment! What’s special about Ghana u23 or even Senegal, Mali or Ivory Coast? After all Nigeria u20 beat Ghana u20 recently and qualified for Afcon. You can only play every country presented to you in your group and you will meet everybody at AFCON to win.
Salisu Yusuf is a talented coach. He will lead this team to victory.
But what about the aligation of back room staff collecting money before including players in the team?
Let them present the proof. So we don’t start making assumptions.
*** BREAKING NEWS ***:
BRIBERY SCANDAL HIT U-23 EAGLES CAMP AGAIN.
Present the proof and stop reading stories from owngoal,
These corrupt coaches are at it again, the same thing that happened with Alaba, Ebiowei and co is popping up again. Nigeria keep losing great talent because of corruption.
The issue of bribery and corruption in selecting players for Nigerian teams should not be swept under the carpet anymore. I have been asking questions, are these ones Nigerian can present out of the abundant Talents. What I see playing for Nigeria is not what Nigeria can provide. Has the divided Nigeria symptoms gone into team selection?
Let’s not pretend all is fine with the crop of players Nigeria for the past 8 years been providing for the youths and carpet teams. Such allegations requires obvious investigations. Period
