England coach Gareth Southgate says that the Three Lions have to make history against Italy in their Euro 2024 qualifying match against Italy on Thursday, March 23 at the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium.
England haven’t defeated the Italians in Italy since 1961 when they triumphed 3-2 over the Azurri at the Stadio Olimpico in Rome
Southgate maintains that Italy are a strong team despite not qualifying for the World Cup.
“It’s the kind of game you have to win,” Football Italia quoted Southgate as saying
“We’ve done it in the past, but we have to do it consistently. We haven’t won here since 1961, we have to make history. This team has already broken several records.
“Italy will be highly motivated, it’s a very strong team even if they didn’t qualify for the World Cup.”
Euro 2024 will hold in Germany from June 14 to July 14 next year.
