Women’s tennis world number one, Iga Swiatek, convincingly defeated 25th seed Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova 6-4, 6-2 at Arthur Ashe Stadium, advancing to the Round of 16.
Swiatek’s victory maintains her high profile, marking her 16th appearance in the Round of 16 at a major, the most of any player since her Grand Slam debut at the 2019 Australian Open.

“I just wanted to focus on myself,” Swiatek said in her on-court interview with ESPN.
“She’s a great player and really powerful, so you have to be ready for the first couple of shots to be really fast.”
Swiatek has now reeled off 17 consecutive service games without facing a break point. The last time she was broken was in the first round against Kamilla Rakhimova when serving for the match at 5-4 in the second set.
Swiatek will face No. 16 seed Liudmila Samsonova in the fourth round on Monday. She holds a 3-0 record against Samsonova, with their last meeting in the 2023 Beijing final.
