Asisat Oshoala is a major doubt for Nigeria’s Super Falcons’ 2024 WAFCON playoff first leg qualifier against Cape Verde through injury.
In a post on their X handle Barcelona women’s team revealed that Oshoala has hamstring on her right leg.
This will be a huge blow for the Super Falcons coaching crew as they prepares for the first leg of the qualifiers on Thursday, 30 November at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena in Lagos.
Oshoala is part of the 22 players invited for the doubleheader against Cape Verde.
The 29-year-old has scored five goals in seven appearances in the Spanish women’s league this season.
She was nominated for the 2023 FIFA The Best Women’s Player and Ballon d’Or awards but did not make the final cut.
However, she is in the running for the 2023 CAF Women’s Player of the Year and Globe Soccer Award.
She helped the Falcons reach the round of 16 of the 2023 FIFA women’s World Cup in Australia and New Zealand.
She scored one goal at the tournament which was against Australia in a 3-2 group stage win.
