The Super Falcons recorded their second win at the Turkish Women’s Cup following a 1-0 win against Uzbekistan at the Emir Sports Complex on Saturday.
Halimatu Ayinde scored the winning goal for the African champions two minutes after the break.

Randy Waldrum’s side totally outplayed their opponents but wasted a number of chances in the game.
Asisat Oshoala, Uchenna Kanu and Francisca Ordega all came close to adding to the Super Falcons lead.
They will face Equatorial Guinea in their next game in the competition on Tuesday.

Good match the team is still a work in progress the defence was solid but very poor finishing from our strikers, Toni Payne is most guilty missing sitters else the scoreline would have been Five goals to nil. On the second thought it will be a good idea to give the SE job to the falcons coach so we can finally win after over a year or ? Lol joke of the year i guess!

A win is a win I guess. Two straight wins in a tournament is always welcomed. Would like to see the girls score more goals especially the big name players assisat, ordega, payne (she is still getting use to the falcons style of play, but I believe she will be a big asset in time to come to the team). Equatorial guinea is next. Falcons show them no mercy. Make it 3 out of 3 victories on Tuesday.
@Sportsfan we know the attributes of the other players but now I’m highlighting Payne who for me is good at holding up play and dribbling, but the NO9 still needs Oparanozie because Payne shot is just too terrible for a striker. If you refer to the match again on YouTube you’ll see what I’m talking about but I feel maybe it’s one of those bad days coz the shot accuracy is way too disgusting after all the hype but she’s got bundle of skills. Again we need Desire to make this team complete!
I saw Payne blaze a clear chance well over the bar so much so the ball flew past a passing plane!
Chima, I was shocked too as I expected her to at least rattle the post.
The Super Falcons were naive in today’s match. Their final ball up front lacked conviction while their link up play was far from being crisp.
A more compact team would have picked Nigeria out easily and punch holes in their play.
I wasn’t impressed but it was Randy Waldrum’s second match in charge so there is ample time for him to stamp his imprint on the team.
I don’t like saying things like this but I think it is time some of the old guards to give way to younger legs.
Anyway, two wins in two matches is worthy of praise.
I tell you we might regret this sort of misses against super powers because the shooting was just too awful, even with the closeness to goal post the shot just doesn’t get close to target, you’ll think it’s easier to score not until they misfire like they’re clearing the ball away but let’s give them the excuse of long layoff effect. Nevertheless we saw some flash of brilliance.
Against Guinea we will have a better picture of the future when they’ll have the opportunity to test their shooting skills.
I quite appreciate all the sentiments but the truth is that this Falcons have not had up to a week together.They placed their first match barely 48 hours they were assembled and a second match today.My humble take is that this team will jell.The 4 absentees are quite young and the new faces are showing what they can do,which is so far so good.So it is a matter of time.The two victory so far is a boost to them.More new foreign faces will definitely come in coupled with the crop of talents that will be added from the local league.I foresee a bright future for this team.
Depending too much on the old guard has always been one of my issues with the Super falcons. Some of these players have been in the team for donkey years and can hardly run anymore. Some people will say that they are the experienced ones and that women get better with age in women football, but I dont see it. All I see is the same players, playing the same style, getting the same result year in and out. African champions for 9 or 10 times now but cant win a world tournament at any age level. They really need an injection of new ideas and new players thats why im excited about payne. She may have started slowly and a bit nervously but I feel with time we will come to appreciate her in the team.

They are improving in every match I’m so sure that they won’t relents.
Although, the team is still work in progress which is understandable but I’m happy that they won their two matches.
The defense is more solid, the midfield is not bad but the links going forward is what the gaffer have to work on.
I’m also happy that the new players are getting more playing time and I’m so sure of this after the tournament, the coach will introduce more new players onto the team.
So far so good, we have 6 points in our pocket. That means one day Super Falcons will make us proud. Well done coach Waldrum and his team. I’m very proud of you ladies.
