Ighalo Fires Al Hilal To Saudi Cup Semis

    Adeboye AmosuBy Adeboye AmosuFebruary 21, 2022Updated:February 21, 202215 Comments1 Min Read

Odion Ighalo was on target as Al Hilal beat Al Nassr 2-1 in their King’s Cup quarter-final tie at the Mrsool Park on Monday night, reports Completesports.com.

Brazil forward Talisca put Al Nassr ahead on 17 minutes.

Ighalo equalised for Al Hilal two minutes after the hour mark.

The 32-year-old has now scored four goals in four appearances across all competitions since linking up with the Asian champions from rivals Al Shabab.

The forward was replaced by Saleh Al Shehri deep into stoppage time.

Salem Al Dawsari netted the winning goal for Al Hilal from the spot 10 minutes from time.

Ighalo should simply continue to silence his critics ala JimmyBall and his “no good” team. Keep up shinning your scoring boot and lead us to Qatar in style.

Saudi Arabia is nothing league lol.. hahaha. I watched Osimhen Game live. His goal was more Special. You know the mark of a lethal striker. Let me tell you. Osimhen came on in the second half 69 min as he is being saved for Europa league rematch with Barca and Osimhen Scored a way more quality headerin the space of 20 mins. Ighalo Header was not as quality as Osimhen check it out and Osimhen did it in a tighter match that was End to End the 2 cannot be compared Osimhen at the moment is way more lethal as he is doing it in far tougher league.. sorry but Osimhen will lead us to Qatar not Ighalo. Keep decieving yourselves. You no sabi shishi about ball. Ighalo managed 1 goal in that game in the whole 90 mins he was on. Also a header do yourself a favour go on youtube and compare the 2 headers then come back and comment lol

@Ugo you are missing the point here, no one is comparing Ighalo to Osimhen surely, but Ighalo needs to be applauded for his recent exploit and definitely an Ighalo presence in the team will help Osimhen to be sharper for us. Don’t forget that Osimhen confessed that Ighalo’s advice during AFCON 2019 and after helped to mould him into a fearless striker that he is today.

And I meant Ighalo will lead us to Qatar, not because I want Ighalo to be the main striker but in terms of seniority and experience on and off the pitch, Ighalo will be vital

Spot on Ugo .you are my man any day. Ighalo is definitely not as good as Osihmen as you mentioned. But as a team, the duo will be deadly. Bless you my brother.

Ugo and Jimmy. You guys are some of the most intelligent minds on this forum. You should by now be proud of What Ighalo is doing in Saudi Arabia. With him and Osihmen as the Super Eagles strike force, we can win bronze at the world cup. Me, Jimmy, Ugo and Chima are the A team on this platform.

But between 2019 and today the aforementioned players have upped their games to a much higher level.
Apparently, two years is a long enough time for an average player to become top class.

You people should stop hatred and comparing players.
It is quite unfortunate to hearing from super eagles fans that one’s goal is fantastic than other.
You people have taken this personal too much.
      Long life super eagles!
      Long life Nigeria!
Love for all hatred for none.

Congratulations to you once again Ighalo. You are making us proud bravo. Please continue proving yourself and please don’t come back to the Super Eagles because country football is totally different to club football.

You have been scoring goals upon goals for your former Saudi club before Cape Verde match and Oga Rohr, his fans and Amaju Pinnick/NFF manipulated the situation for you and brought you back and we all saw the result against Cape Verde.

You made Zero contribution in that match and our world class coach Oga Rohr shamefully substituted you Ighalo. Please learn from Victor Moses. There is time for everything which means, your time is up at the national team. Let’s Dessers, Dennis, Sodiq, Awoniyi and Nwkueme do the job.

I wish you the best our Ighalo the goal machine. I appreciate you for what you able to achieve for your and your country. Please stay aside.

Long story short, we don’t need you. Let’s the young strikers do the job period. Ire o. God bless Nigeria!!!

Backward looking info. Nigeria needs Ighalo, Osimhen and Ounachu and of course, Amoo. The only one Nigeria don’t want is the BASKET in goal.

Ighalo is still an asset to the team. He’s a fighter. People keep looking at his age and not his passion for the game and dedication to any team he plays for be it club or country.

Ighalo is so serious about career, making sure he’s relevant anywhere he goes. There is virtually no club he’s played he hasn’t performed creditably. Even at Man U, you can’t say he’s say he was a failure going by the number of matches he played.

And this is one thing that always draws me to him. See, Osimhen may be hugging all the headlines now. Kudos to him. It’s that guy’s time, and God is really rewarding him for all his sacrifice and troubles at Wolfsburg. But let’s give respect to this man called Ighalo.

Some of us didn’t know he was part of the team that went to World Youth Championship in 2009. How many players from that competition are still relevant today? That’s discipline.

At the last AFCON, I really missed this guy. His passion and untiring effort to make things happen can’t be overemphasized. He doesn’t like losing. If he were in the match against Tunisia, he would have been a big menace to their defence from the moment we were looking for that equalizer. We all remember what he did to Cameroon in that WCQ match in 2018 in Uyo. He would have profusely protested that handball offence by that Tunisian defender until the referee reviews the incidence. He did this against Algeria in 2019 AFCON. He was the major reason Nigeria got far in that competition.

I heard some say he now plays in a useless league , so his goals there shouldn’t be taken serious. Really? We should all remember that Ighalo was playing in China when he ended up as the highest goal scorer, both at the qualifying series for 2019 AFCON and at the competition proper. Vincent Abubakar also plays in KSA and ended 2021 AFCON as the highest goal scorer. He didn’t go to Saudi Arabia straight from the Nigeian League. He has travelled far and wide and chose that country for financial reasons. That has nothing to do with his quality.

I strongly believe that Ighalo in the SE will make Osimhen work harder. And if called up against Ghana, then the Black Stars defenders should be ready for very serious harassments.

I just laugh at the pro- and anti-Ighalo groups. Without disrespect, Ighalo is not a man of himself. He is being teleguided by Mr Pinnick. He rushed back from retirement at Pinnick’s bidding, who merely wanted to flex his muscles: “I want this and I’m the presido, folks.” Wishing to learn how a man of his own behaves? Think about VM.

What baffles me is the way and manner the whole deal was arrived at. Did Ighalo himself open his mouth to address the SE fans, announcing his second coming? All we saw was a gifted player whose chapter in the national team was closed suddenly appearing in camp without any explanation.

And his supporters started shouting “hate” when one points out these aberrations. Who has time for hate? Hating someone is like picking burning coals to haul at someone—you first get hurt.

Let’s not be bothered with Ighalo’s presence in the team. As long as Pinnick remains in the glass house.
