Abdallah Confident Of Improved Super Eagles Performance Vs Ecuador

Third assistant coach of the Super Eagles Usman Abdullah is confident of a good showing in Friday’s friendly game against Ecuador In New Jersey, USA.

The Eagles will hope to bounce back from the 2-1 defeat to Mexico when they face Ecuador.

It was new head coach Jose Peseiro’s first game as Super Eagles handler.

And speaking ahead of the game, Abdallah is expecting an improved performance.

He told NFF TV:”We are expecting a very good game because now we have more time to train together because unlike the other game we only trained once or twice.

“But now we have ample time to train together and certain formation the coach want us to play I think most of them have already understood it and it is going to be a very interesting game.”

Abdallah spoke about the integration between the old and new players and also the technical crew.

“Things are moving very well. The integration of the old and new players is going on fine, the bonding the unity even the technical crew have a lot of unity together  because we work together with the coach. He support very well anything he does we do it together, every training session we have to sit for one hour and programme the training together give our own views and execute what we have done.

“In the last game we played we started with a back three and I don’t think most of the players are familiar with the back three. So we opted for the back four and as you can see the second half went well and that’s what we are doing, working on the defensive and offensive mode

Abdallah added:”It didn’t take much time for us to bond in well with all of them and it is interesting and is something that will keep on going. The whole aim is about pushing the team in the right direction and that’s what we are doing.”

Super Eagles crew must take care of defensive function which SE have been lacking since 1994; defensive function has cost SE many great matches like encounter versus Tunisia in African Cup of Nation in Cameroon 2022 when SE have been knocked out on round 16 by Al-misekni goal a shot from distance through the frail and shaky SE defence; also the same error has happened on the match of Black Stars Ghana whan Partey goal shot from distance which has knocked out SE from World Cup final in Qatar 2022. So I think Pesiero must find a final solution to solve this problem with recalling strong and combative and ferocious defensive midfielders like Anderson Esiti, Usman Mohammed, Nwankwo Obiora who can cover the midfield so gentley and who play pressing football; also playing pressing football from the midfield with proper coverage with playing sliding style will slove this problem.
