NPFL: Rivers United Floor  Plateau United, Extend Lead; Remo Stars Hold 3SC

Rivers United opened a 10-point lead in the Nigeria Professional Football League after beating nearest challengers Plateau United 2-0 in their matchday 31 fixture in Port Harcourt on Wednesday, reports Completesports.com.

Stanley Eguma’s side are now closer to winning a first NPFL title with seven games remaining before the end of the campaign.

River United were awarded a penalty in the 32nd following a foul on Chijoke Akuneto.

The former MFM striker dusted himself up to put his side ahead with Suraj Ayeleso going the wrong way.

Shooting Stars and Remo Stars battled to a 1-1 draw in a thrilling South West derby in Ibadan.

Holders Akwa United were held to a 0-0 draw by MFM in Uyo.

At the Muhammadu Dikko Stadium, Katsina United pip Niger Tornadoes 2-0 with Ahmed Taofeek and Madaki Alkali Dauda scoring the two goals in the second half.
