Portuguese winger Rafael Leao believes that Serie A outfit AC Milan will soon win the UEFA Champions League.
The Rossoneri (Red and Blacks) last won the competition in the 2006/07 edition.
The club played out a 0-0 draw with Premier League team Newcastle United in their first UCL game this season on Tuesday, September 19 at the San Siro.
Speaking to GQ Portugal as quoted by milannews.it, Leao maintained that the club is moving in the upward trajectory
“I believe that the club is on the right path, we managed to reach the semi-finals of the Champions League,” Leao said.
“Now the club’s objective must be to continue to rise, to continue to add, to continue to be strong. And I’m sure that Milan will soon return to winning a Champions League, which is our goal.
“I speak for myself, I’m young, I’m a player who wants to win big things, the Champions League I think is every player’s dream and we are working for this.”
Leao has made one appearance in the 2023/24 UEFA Champions League for the Rossoneri.
AC Milan have won the Champions League seven times (1962/63, 1968/69, 1988/89, 1989/90, 1993/94, 2002/03 and 2006/07).
The Rossoneri are currently third place in Group F of the ongoing Champions League with one point after matchday one.Copyright © 2023 Completesports.com All rights reserved.
