Team Nigeria won two medals on the opening day of the 2026 African Senior Athletics Championship in Accra, Ghana, Completesports.com reports.
The two medals were won in the women’s Discus event.
Divine Oladipo, making her first international appearance for Nigeria, claimed silver in the event.

Obiageri Amaechi sealed Nigeria’s place on the podium by winning the bronze medal.
Team Nigeria is expected to rake in more medals on day two of the competition.
World record holder Tobi Amusan will compete in the final of the women’s 100m hurdles.
Favour Ashe will also feature in the men’s 100m final.
