Favour Ashe has qualified for the men’s 100 metres semifinals at the African Athletics Championships, running a solo race after his protest for being disqualified was successful.
Ashe clocked a time of 10.55s, which put him in the 24 overall, thereby qualifying for Wednesday’s men’s 100m semifinals.
The Nigerian sprint star was initially disqualified for a false-start, but got reinstated after Nigeria lodged an appeal which turned out successfully.
Meanwhile, Team Nigeria finished Day One of the African Athletics Championships by winning two medals in the women’s Discus event.

On her first international outing for Nigeria, Divine Oladipo won a Silver medal after finishing second in the event.
Oladipo’s teammate, Obiageri Amaechi, completed Nigeria’s place on the podium, clinching the Bronze medal.
