Akor Adams opened his Serie A goal account which, unfortunately, was not enough as Venezia lost 4-2 at home to Fiorentina on Friday night, completesports.com reports.
Heading into the contest, both Venezia and Fiorentina had lost their opening three league fixtures.
Fiorentina edged out the early exchanges and had a number of early opportunities through Beto, Mastantuono, Alex Jimenez and Cher Ndour.
But despite their early pressure, it was Venezia who took the lead against the run of play on 22 minutes through record signing Adams.
The Nigeria international collected a pass on the right-hand side of the area and dispatched a well-taken first-time finish into the far corner of the net for his first goal in Serie A.
Fiorentina responded quickly with a brace from Franco Mastantuono in the 29th and 30th minutes before Mateo Pellegrino made it 3-1 in the 66th minute.

With six minutes left in the game Mastantuono completed his hat-trick while Antoine Hainaut scored a late consolation for Venenzia in the 87th minute.
The loss to Fiorentina leaves Venezia bottom in the league standings with zero points after four matches.
Adams arrived at Venezia in the summer transfer from Sevilla on a club-record deal (reported around €17 million plus bonuses) on a four-year contract.
He had already scored twice in the Coppa Italia (a brace in a 3-2 win over Modena in August), and would hope his strike against Fiorentina would be one of many to come, as Venezia look to turn their season around.
