AFCON 2021: Eguavoen Needs Support To Be Successful – Shorunmu

Former Nigerian goalkeeper, Ike Shorunmu has appealed to Nigerians to extend massive support to the newly appointed interim coach of the Super Eagles, Augustine Eguavoen in a bid to achieve positive result at the fast-approaching 2021 Africa Cup of Nations.

Shorunmu stated this in an interview with Brila FM on Monday, where he commended the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) for taking such bold decision.

Recall that on Sunday, the NFF sacked Gernot Rohr as Super Eagles coach after a poor performance with the team during the qualifying series of the 2022 FIFA World Cup.

However, Shorunmnu has called for total support for Eguavoen due to the limited time frame left before the commencement of AFCON 2021.

“All I can say is, the Nations Cup is just around the corner, so the NFF and Nigerians must give them all the support”.

“The time is short, but I wish them all the best and we will be supporting them.”

Eguavoen will now take charge of the Super Eagles, ahead of the 33rd Africa Cup of Nations taking place in Cameroon 9th January – 6th February 2022, and until the appointment of a substantive Head Coach.

Yes o. Support from NFF like that given to Gernot Ruhr! By being owed nearly one year’s salary and loads of unpaid match bonuses!!

Ike on point there. Having consider the fact that time frame is short for 100% performance, I challenge Coach Eguavoen led team to deliver. They must start to put their hoes, cutlasses and shovels together without wasting time. God bless Nigeria.

It is obvious that Pinnick is just handpicking his stooges for appointment into SE to achieve his selfish goals.
Okocha and Kanu should be positioning themselves like Etoo to kick Picnic out of the glass house but they are there running errands for someone that is substantially lower than them in the soccer space. They should reject this appointment and position themselves to view for nff president. Picnic is playing smart on their intelligence.
Sensing the waves flowing across neighboring countries, he is now playing politics to kill their dreams. Picnic is a dictator, he is one of the main reasons why Likeable Gernot Rohr of the first 2yrs turned to groundnut Roar with his devilish actions. M
Okocha should run for the next election as nff chairman.
Of course, Eguavoen did well in his time as SE coach at the Nation’s cup and his short stay for the WC qualifier defeating Algeria in their backyard 5 goals to 2. But the fact is that he has not achieved much in his coaching sojourn and there are better local candidates (Finidi/Egbo).
Aigbogun is just an opportunist and paddy paddy appointment. He is a crap.
Alloy Agu is another crap. He is the laziest GK trainer the SE have had in recent years. He is just there as a beggar feasting on SE players.
Appointment of coaches that have been involved in teams in the past two years would have been logical.
If they want to go local then :
Finidi /Egbo/ Manuas head coach and assistant..
Olofin as TA, Rufai/Carl as GK trainer..

  • Well I really hoped Nigeria’s footballing ship will be steadied by Gernot Rohr, but it now seems like the agent of darkness are now back. They have appointed a consortium abi??? Most of them are USA 94 team set abi???
The same set that was known for politics in camp and players fighting players. Keshi, Amokachi and co against Sunday Oliseh abi???
No worries na, we dey siddon look. As for me, I will just revert to support my favourite clubside – Chelseafc and know I can watch a beautiful tactician at work with great players. I don’t want to end up with high BP.

I smell ethnic bigotry in all of this NFF cosmetic arrangement. Pls guys watch out for yourself.

I will advise our true football legends and stars to be very careful not to be mocked by this perverted charade or better steer clear.
Who God has blessed, no man can curse! Shalom!
