AFCON 2023: Man United Legend Celebrates Super Eagles’ Semi-final Win Vs South Africa

Legendary Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand celebrated Nigeria’s win against South Africa in the semi-final of the AFCON 2023.

After a thrilling 1-1 draw in regulation time, the Eagles triumphed 4-2 on penalties with Stanley Nwabali making two saves.

The South Africans had to play the final minutes of the second half extra time with 10 men after Grant Kekana was sent off for fouling Terem Moffi who was goal bound.

Reacting to the hard fought win, Ferdinand posted a photo of himself holding a Nigerian old jersey on his X handle.

The Eagles will be back in action on Sunday when they will take on hosts Côte d’Ivoire in the final.

It will be a repeat of their group stage clash which Jose Peseiro’s men won 1-0.

The Ivorians edged DR Congo 1-0 in the second semi-final to make their first AFCON final appearance since 2015.

  • The Ivorian team have really improved to be honest. It was luck on their side before, but they really tried against Congo in the semi final. I hope Super Eagles won’t underrate them because of the group stage victory.

  • Kudos to the man wey Sabi

Come to think of it, Ekong has been playing like Ferdinand at this Afcon. Maybe Ferdinand has become a fan. GAME RECOGNIZE GAME.
As for CIV, it will be very foolish to underrate them because we beat them in the group stage. This is a reborn CIV we are meeting. And they have the home advantage.
We have to play our best and DIG DEEP to beat them. It can be done.
But if we underrate them, we can kiss the cup goodbye.
