Three Nigerians, Anuoluwapo Opeyori, Victor Ikechukwu and Godwin Olofua will be competing in the semifinals of the men’s Singles Badminton event at the 13th African Games.

This means that at least one Nigerian player is guaranteed a spot in the final.

All three won their respective quarter-final matches on Saturday, to make the last four, setting up an all Nigerian semi-final in one of the two matches.

Still in the badminton event, the duo of Olofua and Opeyori reached the quarter-finals of the men’s doubles after beating Algeria 2-0 (21-13, 21-18).

The Nigerian players trailed 5-0 in the second set, but they leveled things up, and went on to win the set.
