Aguero Relief For City Ahead Of Eagles Clash

Manchester City are breathing a big sigh of relief after striker Sergio Aguero suffered no injuries following a minor car crash on Wednesday.

City have been dogged by a number of injuries to key players so far this season, but thankfully star striker Aguero will not need to spend any time on the sidelines.

The 31-year-old has not required any medical treatment and the incident should not affect his availability for Saturday’s Premier League trip to Crystal Palace when City will look to close the gap on Premier League leaders Liverpool.

Aguero posted a picture of the damaged car on Instagram, along with the message: “What a great morning.”
The forward has been training at the City Football Academy, as usual, this week despite not playing for Argentina over the international break due to an unspecified injury.

“Sergio Aguero is not here because he’s been carrying a problem and has not been training 100 per cent with his club,” national manager Lionel Scaloni was quoted as saying at a pre-match press conference.

Aguero – who broke a rib and was sidelined for a fortnight after a car crash in Amsterdam two years ago – has begun this season in fine form. He has struck eight times in as many league appearances this term.

Elsewhere, City have been boosted by the news both Kevin De Bruyne and John Stones have been back in training at the City Football Academy this week after groin and thigh injuries respectively.

Playmaker De Bruyne has missed City’s last two games while centre-back Stones has been missing over the past month. The clash at Selhurst Park may come too soon for Stones, but there is the possibility of De Bruyne being available.

With Aymeric Laporte also sidelined, Pep Guardiola has been forced to play midfielder Fernandinho in central defence alongside Nicolas Otamendi.
