Imama Names Ezenwa, Alimi, Udoh 17 Others For Togo Clash

Home-based Super Eagles head coach Imama Amapakabo has named 20 players for Saturday’s 2020 African Nations Championship (CHAN) qualifying second leg clash against the Hawks of Togo, reports Completesports.com.

Heartland goalkeeper, Ikechukwu Ezenwa, Sikiru Alimi who plays for Lobi Stars, skipper of side, Mfon Udoh and Akwa United’s Ndifreke Effiong are some of the players on the list.

Theophilus Afelokhai, Sunusi Ibrahim, Ifeanyi Aneamena, Ebube Duru and Anthony Shimanga also made the list.

The Amapakabo’s charges who have been training at the FIFA Goal Project, Moshood Abiola National Stadium, Abuja since returning from their campaign at the WAFU/FOX Cup of Nations in Senegal last week are expected to storm Lagos today (Thursday) for the game billed to hold at the Agege Stadium, Lagos.

The Home-Eagles lost the first leg 4-1 last month at the Stade de Kegue, Lome.

Nigeria finished as first runner-up at the last edition of the African Nations Championship staged by Morocco early last year.

The winner over two legs between Nigeria and Togo will book a slot at the 6th African Nations Championship (CHAN) finals scheduled for Cameroon in June 2020.

Is Aniekeme Okon no longer an home based? If he still is and he is not in this chan team then I rest my case for Amakakpabor n co.

            Oh my…! Really…?!

I think this chan tournament should enable players playing in African clubs to be able to represent their country e.g a Nigerian in Egyptian league should be able to represent Nigeria, by that it will be more inclusive and interesting.

      You are right, Sir.
It would have being a good development for all african players based in the Continent.
But Chan tournament is strictly designed for players of national origin playing domestically in their locally-oriented leagues.

As soon as a player leave his domestic league to another country’s league, (be it an african country), such a player is considered “ Foreign-Based” and not eligible for Chan.

My mind is telling that Togo is going to be spanked this weekend.

@bobo your mind might be playing tricks on you, no disrespect intended bro,  this’s sport anything is possible, but something is just not right with this team.precise I don’t think the coach is ready for prime time.We can forget this Chan and starts the preparation for the next one.

  • Since Amaju assumed the mettle of super Eagle presidency , i did love his wisdom in piloting the affairs of SE but why didn’t he know that at the crucial stage of SE Team B championship losing qualification ticket like this , Rohr services should have been requested to prosecute today match against Togo that have beaten us twice consecutively within a week few weeks ago ! Well, let us see what Amma will do for us today . Because according to Dr (Chief) Olusegun Obasanjo” fool me once, shame of you, but fool me twice shame of me ! Just 3-0 or 4-1 with a favoured penalty would have settled the whole things .
