Petite sprint hurdler, Tobiloba Amusan’s bid for her first victory in the money spinning IAAF Diamond League meetings was thwarted once again by American runners as the Nigerian could only place third at the BAUHAUS-galan in Stockholm, Sweden Thursday night, Completesports.com reports.
Amusan ran 12.85 seconds, her 35th sub- 13 seconds performance in the event, but it was not enough to upstage the USA duo of Kendra Harrison, the reigning world record holder at 12.20 seconds who ran 12.52 seconds to win and Sharika Nelvis who ran 12.69 seconds to place second.
Amusan has lost five out of her six IAAF Diamond League appearances so far over the 100m hurdles to USA athletes (Nelvis in Rome in May 2018, Mcneal Brianna in Rabat in July 2018, Harrison in London also in July 2018 and Mcneal again in August 2018) with the other loss to Danielle Williams, the Jamaican lady who ran 12.12.66 to win in Doha,Qatar.
The Nigerian would be looking forward to the Oslo Bislett Games in Oslo, Norway when 100m hurdles returns at the fifth stop of the IAAF Diamond League train.
The closest Amusan has come to winning was her second place finish in Doha at the opening leg of the 14-leg meetings at the start of May.
