Trainer Charlie Appleby feels Line Of Duty has the right experience to be a serious threat at next month’s Epsom Derby.
Appleby is looking to secure his second successive victory in the Classic following his win with Masar 12 months ago and feels Line Of Duty boasts similar characteristics to last year’s winner, with both horses having run in the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf at Churchill Downs. “Masar and Line Of Duty have a similar profile in their two-year-old careers and in fact Line Of Duty came up with a better record than Masar, albeit Masar was unlucky at Del Mar,” Appleby was quoted as saying by the Racing Post.

As well as his victory at Churchill Downs, Line Of Duty also boasts a recent success at Goodwood and will step up his preparations for the Derby by making his seasonal reappearance in next week’s Group 2 Al Basti Equiworld Dante at York.
Appleby feels the three-year-old boasts the right kind of experience heading into the race at Epsom on June 1.
The trainer added: “You want a horse with experience coming into the Derby and we feel Line Of Duty has that and we’re very pleased with him.”Copyright © 2021 Completesports.com All rights reserved.
