Arch Manning Heisman Odds 2025: Can Texas QB Live Up to the Hype?
There is very little doubt that the college quarterback. Many people will have their eye on this season is Arch Manning. The starter (finally) at the University of Texas who comes in with a lot of legacy to live up to.
Here are the college football futures odds on winning the 2025 Heisman Trophy, from BetOnline:
- Arch Manning, QB, Texas +600
- Cade Klubnik, QB, Clemson +850
- Carson Beck, QB, Miami (FL) +900
- Garrett Nussmeier, QB, LSU +1000
- Ty Simpson, QB, Alabama +1400
- Jeremiah Smith, WR, Ohio State +1600
- Sam Leavitt, QB, Arizona State +1800
- DJ Lagway, QB, Florida +1800
- Drew Allar, QB, Penn State +2000
- Gunner Stockton, QB, Georgia +2000
The background – how did Arch Manning get here?
Manning was the most coveted recruit in the country coming out of Isidore Newman High School in New Orleans, and for good reason. With 8,539 career passing yards, he broke his uncle Eli Manning’s record at the school, and also shattered his other uncle Peyton Manning’s mark for touchdowns, throwing 115 in his career.
So you could imagine that there would be much fanfare related to his recruitment. And the emergence of NIL (Name, Image, Likeness) deals added another dimension to the speculation as to where he would matriculate.
Would he go to Ole Miss, where Eli and grandfather Archie Manning attended? Was Tennessee (Payton’s alma mater) a possibility? Might he go in a package deal somewhere with David Cutcliffe, who had mentored both uncles and was fired in 2022 from his post as Duke’s head coach?
What went into Manning’s decision
The young Manning paid visits to a number of schools, which included SEC powres like LSU, Georgia and Alabama, along with Clemson and SMU. Ultimately, he chose Texas and head coach Steve Sarkisian, the former BYU quarterback who had previous head coaching stops at Washington and USC, and was well-known as a tutor of quarterbacks.
Arch played sparingly in two games as a freshman, which enabled him to redshirt. As a sophomore, he was a backup, and saw extended action when starter Quinn Ewers was injured. He did very well, with nine TD passes and just two interceptions, with almost 68% completions and four rushing touchdowns.
So now he goes into the 2025 as not only the +600 favorite to win the Heisman Trophy at BetOnline, but also the +225 favorite to be the #1 selection in the 2026 draft.
The question – will he declare for the draft?
It’s important to point out that even though he will be eligible for the draft, as there would be three years since his high school class graduated, it doesn’t mean that Manning will elect to turn pro. He has enough NIL money to satisfy him; more than he might make as a rookie. So you may want to look at those odds as if they are “soft” right now.
There are also reasonable questions coming into this redshirt sophomore season. It has been brought up by skeptics that Manning did not overtake Ewers – a seventh-round draft pick of the Miami Dolphins – for the starting quarterback job with the Longhorns, and that if he was a legitimate candidate to be the #1 pick, that wouldn’t be the case.
Then again, this also has the look of a scenario where Manning is being developed by a coach who knows how to do it and the design is not to rush things.
“The competitive spirit in him wanted to play more than he did, and I appreciated that,” Sarkisian told reporters.
Here comes the first BIG test for Manning
Most certainly, there are going to be questions answered soon. Manning’s two starts thus far have come against Louisiana-Monroe of the Sun Belt Conference and SEC cellar-dweller Mississippi State, which was 2-10 last season.
He’ll have a much tougher assignment in the season opener, which requires the ‘Horns to hit the road on August 30 against
Ohio State, which is priced at +650 to win the national championship for a second straight season.
Betting against Arch Manning to play at an All-America level may be risky business, considering his set of tools and a background that already supplies him with a sizable knowledge base. His story is the most intriguing in the country as we approach this college football season.
