Aribo Scores Second EPL Goal, Iwobi Bags 4th Assist In Everton’s Win At Southampton

Joe Aribo was on target which unfortunately proved futile as Southampton lost 2-1 to visiting Everton, in the Premier League on Saturday, Completesports.com reports.

Aribo’s Super Eagles teammate Alex Iwobi provided the assist for Everton’s second goal.

While Aribo got his second goal in the Premier League, Iwobi bagged his fourth assist in all competitions for Everton this season.

Everton have now gone seven straight games without defeat (three wins, four draws) and for Southampton they have lost their last three games.

Aribo broke the deadlock on 49 minutes as he picked the ball up on the edge of the box and fired it beyond Jordan Pickford.

But just three minutes after Southampton opener Everton equalized, after Amadou Onana nodded down a deep cross into the path of Conor Coady who netted from close range.

In the 54th minute Iwobi then set up Dwight McNeil who drove the ball into the back of the net to put Everton 2-1 ahead.

The win took Everton to 11th position on 10 points and Southampton occupy 15th on seven points.

At Selhurst Park Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang opened his goals account for Chelsea as he found the back of the net in the Blues’ 2-1 comeback win against Crystal Palace.

Palace got off to a good start thanks to Osdsonne Edouard’s seventh minute goal, turning in Jordan Ayew’s curling cross from the right.

In the 38th minute Aubameyang equalized for Chelsea. Reece James’ pass was knocked down by Thiago Silva and Aubameyang fired home on the spin.

In the 90th minute Conor Gallagher, who was on loan at Crystal Palace last season, scored his first Chelsea goal by curling into the top corner from long range to give Graham Potter his first Blues win.

Chelsea, who have played a game less, are in fifth place and on 13 points.

And at Anfield Leandro Trossard netted a hat-trick as Brighton and Hove Albion held Liverpool to a thrilling 3-3 draw.

Trossard is now the first player to score a Premier League hat-trick against Liverpool at Anfield since Andrey Arshavin in April 2009.

Roberto Firmino got a brace and an own goal by Adam Webster put Liverpool 3-2 ahead before Trossard equalized for Brighton with seven minutes left.

Liverpool with seven games played are ninth on 10 points and Brighton on 14 points take up the fourth spot.

In other results Newcastle United hammered Fulham 4-1 and Brentford, with Frank Onyeka coming on with six minutes left, drew goalless at Bournemouth.

Aribo bibo! You are a truly deserving Super Eagles player. You have done well today. Iwobi too tried. Heaven bless Aribo and Iwobi and all deserving Super Eagles players.

Partey’s goal for Arsenal was a fantastic strike. He really bossed the midfield

I think our coach should be using 433 with aribo and iwobi in the midfield and one defending midfielder. Then the attack osimhen dessers and mofi

    • My only question is where Ndidi will fit if Peseiro persists with his flat 4-4-2 formation.

This arrangement can only accommodate two left and right centre midfielders. These two have to be fluid and mobile ball carriers with attacking instincts (the sort that saw Partey score against Nigeria and Tottenham today).

Already, Iwobi has nailed down one of those spots. The second seems more suited to players like Joe Aribo, Peter Etebo, Frank Onyeka, Akinwunmi Amoo or even Kelechi Nwakali.

Ndidi hasn’t added much quality to the offensive aspects of his game in recent times. With no provision for a defensive midfielder in Peseiro’s formation, it is hard to see where Ndidi will fit in a manner that will bring out the best in what he offers: markings, tackles and interceptions.

The best formation for the super eagles these days with the calibre of players we possess is 433. I was expecting PESEIRO to play a modern 4:3:3 formation but even with his midfield called last time out,I didn’t expect anything Better from him. How can you invite just 4central midfielders and amongst the 4 is one rookie (Raphael Onyedika) who was just settling down in his new club. Alhassan Yusuf who was more established who was still fresh with the best player of the month accolades with his high flying club ( Royal Antwerp) included and later excluded to the surprise of everyone.

Going forward,I hope PESEIRO will be more purposeful and transparent with the invitation of his soldiers especially in the midfield and defence and until then, our Target of winning the next AFCON is still a narrow dream guys.

The tactical fashion in football is for the concept of double pivots. Rather than have a one-man defensive midfielder like Ndidi, the fashion is for two players who can defend and tackle like a defensive midfielder and can also carry the ball as well as pass the ball. These players interchangeably change attacking and defending roles.
This is why even Ndidi’s club side is using him as a center-back because he can’t carry the ball. Unfortunately for him, he’s not a very good center-back. Meaning, I expect his club would sell him on soon.

4-3-3 with your personnel deployment especially the ATTACKING players is a recipe for CALAMITY sir!

You can’t deploy 3 OUT AND OUT strikers in a 4-3-3….where is the defensive balance?

PASEIRO, another journey man serial paper weight coach coming to deploy 4-4-2 in 2022 is another WONDER OF THE WORLD! Wasting our personnel and reducing our prospects of success.

With the players available to us 4-3-3 or 3-5-2 or 3-4-3 is the way to go.

      4-3-3:
Goalkeeper…Any one in form per time

      Full backs ..AINA SANUSI

      CENTREBACKS… AKPOGUMA BASSEY

      CENTRAL/DEFENSIVE MIDFIELD..NDIDI IWOBI ARIBO

      ATTACK…SIMON OSIMHEN ADEMOLA

      3-4-3:
      GOALKEEPER…SAME AS ABOVE

      2 WING BACKS..AINA SANUSI

3 CENTER BACKS.. AKPOGUMA AJAYI BASSEY

      2 MIDFIELDERS..NDIDI IWOBI/ARIBO

      3 FORWARDS…SIMON OSIMHEN ADEMOLA

      3-5-2:
      GOALKEEPER…SAME TRICK

      3 CENTREBACKS..BASSEY AJAYI AKPOGUMA

      2 WINGBACKS ..SANUSI AINA

      3 MIDFIELDERS..NDIDI IWOBI ARIBO

2 ATTACKERS . OSIMHEN AWONIYI (a better all round player than DESSERS)

In term of input in Super eagles, Desserts is better than Awoniyi. Only Osimhen and Moffi should be higher than Desserts in this team. Let’s be honest. The guy (dessers) is good.
