Arsenal defender hunt leads them To Zagadou

Arsenal are understood to be keen on Borussia Dortmund defender Dan-Axel Zagadou after he caught the eye at the Under-20 World Cup. The Gunners have made improving their backline their number one goal for the summer transfer window and are pushing hard to complete the signing of Celtic left-back Kieran Tierney.

At least one centre-half is also thought to be on the club’s wish list and they have already been linked with a plethora of names, including Paris Saint-Germain’s Presnel Kimpembe and William Saliba of St Etienne. Zagadou is the latest name to crop up with reports in France claiming the 20-year-old caught the eye of the Arsenal scouts during France’s run to the last-16 of the Under-20 World Cup.

Zagadou made the move from PSG to Borussia Dortmund in 2017 on a free transfer and still has three years remaining on his contract with the Bundesliga outfit. BVB are in no hurry to cash in on Zagadou, who made 23 appearances last season, and it is likely the Frenchman is out of the Gunners price range given their reported transfer budget of £45million.
