Atalanta manager Gian Piero Gasperini has explained how he unlocked Ademola Lookman’s potential.
Lookman has thrived under Gasperini’s tutelage since his arrival at the Gewiss Stadium two years ago.
The Nigeria international was Atalanta’s top scorer last season.
The winger has also performed incredibly well this season with his hat-trick helping La Dea’s beat Bundesliga champions Bayer Leverkusen in the final of the Europa League.

Lookman has scored 16 goals and registered eight assists across all competitions for Atalanta this season.
If has been a remarkable rise for a player, who struggled during his stint with RB Leipzig.
Gasperini reckoned he was not a top player before arriving Italy.
“Lookman is a top player today, but he wasn’t before. He was strong, but tended to light up in flashes and at other times would disappear from the game. He was the same in training sessions,” Gasperini was quoted by Football Italia.
“I worked with him using the patience of an artisan craftsman. What he did in the last few weeks feels like his maturity. He wants the ball, participates in the game, works with his teammates.”

Agreed with his manager. Lookman has now become a phenomenon today. l believe that he should be honored the ‘best African player of the year’ 2023/24. The whole football world talks about him now like never before. Lookman may change the trajectory against South Africa next week. Victor Osimhen is so prone to injury, unfortunately for Nigeria. This is affecting his market value currently.
