Despite not producing their best performances of the indoor season, the Osheku Athletics Academy graduate trio of Shot Putter, Isaac Odugbesan, Middle Distance runner, Abike Egbeniyi and Sprinter, Cecilia Francis did just enough to lead Middle Tennessee State University to Conference USA Indoor Track and Field glory.
Odugbesan threw 18.38m, 41 centimetres off the 18.79m personal season’s best he set last month to win the gold medal in the event to become one of only three men to win an individual title at the athletics championship for the University.
The Nigerian’s effort and that of his teammates were enough to ensure Middle Tennessee’s men captured their second Conference USA Indoor Track and Field title in three years.
For the women,it was a similar story albeit the ladies could only place third at the end of the athletics championship.
