I don’t want to dwell in the past but I wonder what was the reason for the omission of Ejuke and Awoniyi Inuit games against Ghana. Ejukenwould have been useful in the first leg to draw fouls and also Awoniyi’s hold up play too. We can’t just discard players because they underperformed in 1 or 2 matches while some players have numerous chances to prove themselves. ……I just don’t understand.

Shut your mouth there, dumb ass. Awoniyi was wasteful at the Afcon. Ejuke was selfish. Go and buy new glasses. Idiot.

      • JimmyBall 2 years ago

…Awoniyi was wasteful. So how about Olayinka?

      • Footballfanatic 2 years ago

E be like say u wan collect this morning? I will let u keep barking like the rabid dog that you have always been but I think your mother should have swallowed or spit you out. Would have saved humanity another trashy human.

Shut your face bitch. Your mother is a cow who should have been used for sacrifice.

      • Footballfanatic 2 years ago

So because they were wasteful they should never be invited to the national team again? The ones that were not wasteful have qualified us for Qatar? Idiot!

      • MONKEY POST 2 years ago

@SD SPECIAL DELIVERY JONES I shared the same OPINION like you recently but some people who CLAIM to know FOOTBALL more than me like @ JIMMYBALL and his FAKE I.D MAHMUD shut me down…

You are one of the best intelligent minds here Monkey Post. Not like that idiot footballfanabitch.
Awoniyi and Ejuke were rubbish at the Afcon.

In Nigeria, we have a culture of sacrificing visible merit for hype and favoritism. Now, one will wonder what all the noise of calling back Odion Ighalo was for?

A player who was not even deemed good enough to play 20minutes in a combined 180minutes of a world cup playoff game. Eguaveon is a curse on Nigeria football. But the whole Ighalo recall was started and orchestrated by Rohr, meaning he also never trusted the attackers available to him.

  • As for me I! I prefer Dessers to Awoniyi at the moment.
I’ve seen little out of what Awoniyi can do for Naija. Noww I’m hungry to see what Dessers can do.

    • Footballfanatic 2 years ago

I support that too. Awoniyi has been given his chance….Let’s see Dessers too.

      • footballfanatic 2 years ago

Na shopono go Finnish you there. Maybe you need to take your psych medications or your wife smashed another man cuz ur little shot won’t work….Why you are so mad like a mad dog is beyond me lol…I only aired my opinion which you have a right to ……Oloshi wey dem don use I’m destiny do sacrifice.

      • Footballfanatic 2 years ago

You need help sir. The sort of aggression you are displaying over an opinion is psychopathic only god knows the kind of aggression you display in real life over more serious real life issues. Stupid bitch! lol

  • I think one of Nigeria’s problem is being gifted with excess resources and not having the technical genius to maximally utilize them. Awoniyi didn’t explode at the Afcon and Ejuke seemed too desperate to showcase his dribbling wizardry, but no one can deny the flashes of brilliance that shone through and just needed some polishing and proper channelling by a sound manager.

France too used to have the curse of too many exceptional talents but somehow Laurent Blanc – and later Deschamps has managed has to fashion out a nearly invincible playing machine that’ll still be a favourite to retain the World Cup trophy this year.

Even Ghana does not have half of our talents (their technical bench won it) – many who are on the fringes like Awoniyi, Dessers,Olayinka, Nwobodo, Adeleye, Moffi, Kingsley, Tyrone, Kelvin, Marcus etc. We simply need a good manager in the mould of Lauren Blanc. I hope we’re able to get him.

Too bad bro…the principalities holding our football in the jugular are on the verge of appointing Jose Paseiro as we speak

I was at the Glass House on Thursday for something and in the course of my visit was privy to some moves

In the next 72 hours all things being equal PAJERO…oooops Paseiro will be unveiled!

Any sane keen watcher and follower of football who says AWONIYI underperformed in CAMEROON certainly knows nothing

Prior AFCON 2021, AWONIYI has only one cap under GR, playing second half in Lagos where he almost scored

He started only 3 games in CAMEROON under a new coach winning his second-fourth caps, starting for the first time and having less than 1 week training session under the new gaffer!

Now let’s consider his scorecard in that tourney:

      1. According to WHOSCORED.COM, he had one of the highest shot on goals

      2. He scored 1 goal
      3. He created 1 goal
      4. He pre-created 1 goal

      Summary…
First ever tournament earning his second ever cap he had 3 DIRECT goal involvements in 3 games. Arithmetically that translates to over 90% success rate

Awoniyi was wasteful but he scored 1 goal and made 1 assist in his first 3 starts for SE. How many goals did Osimhen score in his first 3 matches ? How many matches did it take Ighalo to score his first goal for SE (10) ?
There is only one reason why he holds the transfer fee record, record goal scorer for club, and highest goal scored in Bundesliga for his club.. He ticks all boxes as a modern day striker..
A good coach should have known that a combo of Awo-Osi will not only be prolific but create many options in the attack. Awoniyi hold-up play and direct running is enough to distract defenders and create direct access to the opponent’s goal area. Osimhen can then explore his positioning instinct to pull the trigger..
Lazy coaches like Eguavoen and Amuneke will never take time to develop suitable approach but will always rely on archaic 1994 tactics. The reason they have failed to make any meaningful progress on their career.
Coaching has gone digital. Top coaches (Klopp, Guardiola) are exploring AI, data science and machine learning to unlock numerous options.

I am surprised till date those conspiracy theorists haven’t said you and I are the same person. I have noticed severally that we tend to share almost identical opinion on matters on this platform.

Funny enough I have had to disagree with JIMMYBALL on numerous occasions yet those people don’t see that. Now I know why; they are so obsessed with looking for ways to denigrate the man and so must always seek ways and people to add to the mix!

Back to your submission…nuff said like my last boy will always say. Spot on for me!

Someone is talking whether OSIMHEN fluffed his lines like AWONIYI? To be in a position where you get chances and fluff in itself is a BIG credit to a player. It means that player’s positional sense is top notch

OSIMHEN no doubt is more prolific going by statistics so far but that is not taking the shine away from AWONIYI who has started scoring for fun too

Let’s not forget to date, he only has 4 caps with 3 DIRECT goal involvements. Like LARRY aptly asked; how many games did it take the likes of EMENIKE, IGHALO, IDEYE, IKE UCHE, even the legendary gangling YEKINI before the opened their Eagles accounts? Also how many goals + assists did they aforementioned including OSIMHEN have in their first 4 matches for SE??

Am waiting for statisticians to come up with the figures let’s compare and contrast!

‘Eguavoen was right to place him on standby’ and SE kissed QATAR 2023 goodbye! Hahahhaaahahaaa

      Who lost?
He placed AWONIYI on standby and invited IGHALO, SODIQ and AHMED MUSA all of whom combined had less than 20 mins over about 190 mins! Penny wise pounds foolish they say!

  • MONKEY POST 2 years ago

The QUESTION is did OSIMEHN had as much GOAL SCORING CHANCES WASTED on his DEBUT as AWONIYI?

    The ANSWER is NOO!!

I just came off from YOUTUBE and I did compare the both FIRST 3 GAMES and AWONIYI had the most BEST and BEAUTIFUL CHANCES but was much WASTEFUL

Do we have to give him till they KINGDOM come CHANCES when currently we have supplus of strikers not yet tested?

As a matter of FACT is a HEADACHE…

    Abeg let’s try others joor..

Am not saying HE shouldn’t be INVITED but EGUAVOEN was RIGHT to place him in STANDBY..

  • Larry 2 years ago

If lost chances in last matches played were used to disqualify or demote a striker, then Osi-9 would have no business in upcoming games.
Not taking anything away from Osimhen capability, but the fact is that the love some of us have for him made us ignore most of his losses and errors.
The focus of the next SE gaffer should be on how to harness the individual ingenuity of our strikers (Osi, Awo, Desser, Olayinka, Sadiq, Onuachu). Some of these folks like Olayinka can play multiple positions upfront. Sadiq seems to be more sleek, Osi can be more deadly, Awo can be more difficult to play against because of his strength & speed, Desser can be more prolific, Onuachu can be a game changer.
While the Ghanian bench was busy studying our players and identifying the right material and tactics to deploy, our coaches ate busing teaching pull-out & lobbying the ball or looking for free tickets in Dangote’s private jet to go see Dessers.

  • MONKEY POST 2 years ago

Oga we talking about their DEBUT GAMES!

    The GOAL SCORING CHANCES missed

Go to YOUTUBE and check it out..

    LMFAO..

I know your mind is on his recent BICYCLE KICK miss and all that..

And lastly is not how many games they played before them started scoring be the issue.

    Bcos dat one na NORMAL

Every PLAYER get DAYS wey him dey see him PERIOD like how we dey talk for STREETS..

Pual Onuachu is far superior to Sadiq Umar any day. He wasn’t injured and Pual should have come in to unluck the buses that Ghana parked in front of their goal mouth. The omission of Pual Onuachu and Akin Amoo was the sole reason why Nigeria flag is missing in this forthcoming World cup. The coaching team failed us. Our own failed us miserably.
