Awoniyi Desperate To Play in Premier League

Nigeria forward Taiwo Awoniyi has declared that playing in the prestigious English Premier League is his ambition.

Awoniyi was once in the books of Premier League giants Liverpool, but never kicked a ball for the Reds as he was unable to secure a United Kingdom work permit.

The 23-year-old spent time on loan with clubs in Germany, Belgium and Netherlands before joining Union Berlin on a permanent deal last summer.

The striker has settled down well at his new club and has scored nine in 18 league appearances for Urs Fischer’s side.

Despite his impressive start to life in the Bundesliga, Awoniyi still have high hopes of playing in England in future.

“The Premier League is my dream. Everyone knows that, including here in the club,” he told
Kicker.

“I said to myself: ‘If I don’t make it in England, I want to play in the Bundesliga because the Bundesliga is the best organised league.

“If I lived in England, it would be easier for my wife and child, if only because of the language. In addition, my sister and a brother live on the island.

“It’s a matter of timing. Now it’s too early to talk about a possible change of club.”

Awoyin you need to work hard on your ruggedity as a stubborn striker, you are gentle striker, no stubbornness as original top 9 that’s why I like Osemhen. You can easily mark out when you meet tougher defenders. Work hard and improve your power and energy.

@Chubuike, spot-on. I hope he can add doggedness to his game. That’s the major difference between him and Osigoal. Awo & Osi share the record of being the only player to have scored in all National team levels.
Awoniyi is currently the all time leading scorer of a top German club. This us no small feat for an uprising player.
The SE is loaded with multi-dimensional attacking threats from Osi Awo,Dennis, Kel and Sadiq. The team needs leadership, X-factor player and more creativity.
Cerezo should consider Amoo, Lookman, Samson Tijani (now back with Red Bull Salzburg), and X-factor VM for the next match. This will add more functionality to the team.

  • Awoniyi still has a chance to play in the premiership maybe not for a top 5 team but I can see a mid-table placed team signing him on his club form if for nothing else.
But right now premier league teams have their eyes on two super eagles players. Victor Osimhen and Moses Simon. I just read that Newcastle are offering Simon £100,000 weekly salary. If its true I advise him to leave Nantes with immediate effect. There is no much difference between Newcastle and Nantes except maybe Newcastle players wont be as wasteful as Nantes players with all the chances Simon creates. He should go.
Osimhen is always in the transfer news, but I dont see napoli selling him just yet especially with insigne leaving.

Show some ruggeddity and sagacity to your game….you are supposed to be a fantastic player but as number 9 on the pitch leave that gentleman attitude off the pitch but on the pitch be rugged, show some sagacity be stubborn when attacking defenders like a typical number 9…

I ranked him higher than Sadiq but after watching the game against Tunisia I changed my mind set. Sadiq have better qualities than Awoyimi as an SE player. Awoyini has long way to go. The closest now to Osigoal is Sadiq. What he is lacking for now is confidence. Once he is giving enough playing time and good pep talk by the SE to raise his confidence. Fans forget we will enjoy Sadiq
