Senator representing Akwa Ibom North-east district, Bassey Albert, has given his endorsement to Vandrezzer FC ahead of the NNL season which gets underway on November 22.
This latest seal of approval means the senator is the second big-name politician throwing his support behind the newly-founded club in recent weeks.
Last month, a former member representing Ibiono Ibom constituency, Ime Okon, endorsed the club. He also attended the opening ceremony of Joe Udofia Unity Cup, which is sponsored by owners of the club, Vandrezzer Energy.
Speaking during a visit to Joe Udofia, Vandrezzer Energy Chief Executive Officer, Bassey described Vandrezzer FC as “the club for the future and the club for Nigeria.”
The former Akwa Ibom Finance Commissioner, praised the business tycoon for establishing the club, adding that the club is living up to expectations.
“What he’s done is phenomenal. It’s about passion. My brother (Joe Udofia) has the right passion and he’s succeeding; and Vandrezzer is the team I support,” he said.
As the NNL season draws nearer, dignitaries from across the country have continued to declare their love for the Ibiono side, who will kick of their campaign with a home fixture against Owerri club Jossy United.
The Jossy United game will be historic for the club, as it will mark their first-ever match in league football.
