Bayern Munich new manager, Hansi Flick says his men executed his game plan well and blew Borussia Dortmund apart, 4-0, in the much anticipated first Der Klassiker of the 2019/2020 Bundesliga season in front of 75,000 spectators inside the Allianz Arena on Saturday, Completesports.com reports.

Poland international Robert Lewandowski netted a brace and took his goal haul to 16 in 11 consecutive games this season. He has scored in every single Bundesliga match that Bayern Munich have played this term.

He scored in the 17th and 76th minutes of the Der Klassiker. Then Serge Gnabry netted in the 47th, while Dortmund’s Mats Hummel’s scored an own goal in the 80th to complete the routing of the Lucien Favre’s team.

Lewandowski has surpassed Germany and Bayern Munich legend, Gerd Muller’s Bundesliga record set in the 1968/69 season. Muller Der Bomber netted 15 goals in the first 11 league matches of that season.

“We did what we set out to do. We played the sort of football our fans are used to seeing, and want to see from us,” Flick, a former Bayern Munich assistant coach who took over from Niko Kovac prior to Der Klassiker told reporters after the match.

“If you defend well, you have that extra bit of room for creativity and confidence going forward. That came good for us today.”
