Bassey Bags 3rd Assist Of Season In Rangers’ 6-1 Away Win At Motherwell

Calvin Bassey grabbed his third assist of the season as Rangers came from a goal down to defeat Motherwell 6-1, in the Scottish Premiership on Sunday, Completesports.com reports.

It was Bassey’s first in the league while his two other assists came in the League Cup.

Also in action for Rangers were Leon Balogun and Joe Aribo who came off on 78 and 82 minutes respectively.

The massive win saw Rangers remain top on 27 points and go four points clear of bitter rivals Celtic.

Against the run of play, Motherwell took the lead on 13 minutes after Rangers conceded a cheap corner, which Sondre Solholm Johnson initially had a free-header on. McGregor saved well from him, but the ball fell for the unmarked Bevis Mugabi at the back post to fire home.

With two minutes left in the first half, Rangers equalised thanks to James Tavenier.

Bassey got the ball on the left, he picked out the incoming Tavenier as he entered the box with a floated cross, and on the half-volley, he sensationally drilled the ball beyond Kelly for the equaliser.

Zambian star Fashion Sakala was the hero for Rangers as he netted a hat-trick, getting his side’s second, third and fifth goals.

Motherwell were reduced to 10 men on 67 minutes with the score at 3-1 after Stephen O’Donnell received his second yellow card.

  • Bassey also got an opponent sent off with his overlapping run which is already been talked about……. Bassey is more adventurous going forward and I like him for that……he gives the attack width and support……he is equally strong in defense……I think Rhor should cap him this time around let us see what he can bring to the table.

The lad was a handful.Saw the game,he was full of endeavour and a constant threat. His pace was a big problem for the Motherwell full back to deal with.
      He had a great game.
Balogun and Aribo who was not so lucky to score despite putting himself clear on goal had good games as well.
