Scottish Premiership giants Glasgow Rangers have announced the capture of Calvin Baseey from Leicester City.
Bassey, 20, joined the Gers on a four-year contract with Rangers paying training compensation to Leicester City for the highly-rated defender.
Italian-born Baseey, is also eligible for Nigeria and England.
He can play as left-back or centre-back.
Speaking about his new signing, manager Steven Gerrard said: “There was a lot of clubs interested in Calvin and for us it’s pleasing to secure the services of another young talent.

“He’s a strong and dynamic athlete who is very much the modern day full back. He will develop further and we are excited to have made another strong addition to our group.
“He’s left-footed, physically powerful and enjoys driving forward and is certainly equipped to thrive in the combative nature of Scottish football. We continue to look ahead to next season and Calvin is another positive addition as we continue to build the strength and depth of our squad.”
Calvin Bassey commented: “I am delighted to join Rangers and secure my future at a club of such stature. When I entered talks with Rangers, I knew this club was right for me. Of course I am thankful for everything Leicester has done for me and I am now very excited about working under Steven Gerrard and his coaching team to continue my progression.
“I have heard about the amazing atmosphere at Ibrox. I can’t wait to start pre-season and take my career to the next level in the famous blue Rangers jersey.”

Hmmmmm…This is one to watch out for and quickly snap up because I foresee him progressing really well at Ibrox under Steven Gerrard who is well known for believing and improving young talents just as he has done and still doing on our very own ARI-BALL (Joe Aribo). Interestingly, he is a Left footed LEFT BACK, A position where we are in need of more competition. I hope Coach Gernot Rohr does his usual smart move when Basssey hits the ground running at Rangers
Let’s see his performance first before pressuring Rohr, if he’s good enough for the eagles then off course am sure he will be invited. By the way, is Bukayo Saka deciding for us or adopting 3 Lions? He should remember England got Ben Chilwell, who is equally young and he will always be considered ahead of him

Meanwhile, About Saka. I think the guy will play for Nigeria ahead of England. The way he acts so far has been more sensible than that Eze of a guy. And it has also been in the news that his Father wants him to represent Nigeria. We can only pray he acts fast. Probably after settling his Club issue(Extending or not extending his deal at Arsenal), he will make a decision
