The Benin City Youth League has condemned the conduct of Dynamo Academica Football Academy during the official award ceremony following the league final.
It was observed that immediately after the conclusion of the league’s official presentation ceremony, Dynamo Academica proceeded to organize and present its own club awards to its players on the same podium and within the official tournament environment.
This conduct was inappropriate, unprofessional, and highly disrespectful to the competition, its organizers, participating clubs, match officials, sponsors, invited guests, and every stakeholder who contributed to the successful organization of the tournament.
Football competitions are governed by established protocols and universally accepted standards of event management. Across organized football, official award ceremonies remain the exclusive responsibility of the competition organizer. Clubs do not stage parallel award presentations during an organizer’s official ceremony. Such recognitions are reserved for separate club events, end-of-season ceremonies, or other private occasions.
The Benin City Youth League views the actions of Dynamo Academica as an attempt to overshadow the competition’s official awards and undermine the integrity and prestige of the league. If allowed to continue, such conduct would set a dangerous precedent capable of eroding discipline and order in future editions of the competition.
Following due consultations with respected stakeholders in the football community, including administrators and competition organizers, it has been unanimously agreed that this type of behaviour must be decisively curtailed.
Accordingly, the Benin City Youth League hereby imposes a fine of One Hundred Thousand Naira (₦100,000) on Dynamo Academica Football Academy for conduct considered prejudicial to the image and integrity of the competition. This sanction is intended not merely as punishment but as a clear deterrent against future violations of competition protocols.
Dynamo Academica Football Academy is hereby given 48 hours to submit a formal written apology to the Benin City Youth League Management and all relevant stakeholders for conduct deemed disrespectful to the integrity of the competition.
Failure to comply within the stipulated period shall attract further disciplinary action by the League.
Furthermore, the League hereby issues a final warning to Dynamo Academica and all participating clubs that, henceforth, no club shall organize, conduct, or present independent awards, medals, trophies, certificates, cash gifts, or any form of player recognition within the official venue, podium, or ceremony of any Benin City Youth League competition without the prior written approval of the League Management.
Any future violation of this directive shall attract more severe disciplinary measures, including but not limited to increased financial penalties, suspension from league activities, forfeiture of privileges, or any other sanctions deemed appropriate by the League’s disciplinary authorities.
Football is built on respect. Respect for the competition, respect for fellow participants, and respect for the institutions that organize the game. Every club is expected to uphold these values without exception.
The Benin City Youth League remains committed to maintaining the highest standards of professionalism, discipline, and integrity, and will not hesitate to take firm action against any conduct that threatens those standards.
